Configuring Control of Remote CICs
The IMG has the ability to configure Stacks and links on a primary SS7 server and have the links on that server control the CICs on several remote nodes. (See Diagram Below). The SS7 network must reside under one logical Group and the Primary Server must be an IMG 1010. Each of the remote nodes would have CIC's created on them that are controlled by the SS7 server node. The remote nodes can be either an IMG 1010 or an IMG 1004. Follow the procedure below which explains how to configure the SS7 Primary server node along with an IMG 1004 Remote node. The procedure below does not include SS7 redundancy, it is just a primary SS7 server node with a remote IMG 1004 remote node.
Note on SS7 Functionality on the IMG 1004: With each new software release Dialogic has added new SS7 functionality to the IMG 1004. See timeline below:
• Release 10.5.1 – Ability to act as a remote SS7 node and terminate up to four links. (F-1406)
• Release 10.5.3 – Full SS7 functionality. (F-1446)

The procedure below assumes that the basic functions on the IMG SS7 server node has already been configured. The procedure starts by configuring the Stacks,links, link sets, and routes which is what is needed to configure SS7 on an IMG.
Configure an IMG 1010 as a SS7 Server Node:
On the SS7 Server Node configure Stacks, Links, Link Sets, and Routes. For a step by step procedure on creating Stacks etc. See IMG 1010 - Configuring SS7 Signaling - 10.5.1
Configure an IMG 1004 as a Remote Node with Remote CICs:
Remote CIC's can be created on either the IMG 1010 or IMG 1004. For demonstration purposes, this procedure uses the IMG 1004 as the remote CIC node. In actuality both the IMG 1010 and/or the IMG 1004 can be used as a remote node with remote CIC's configured on them.
Create a physical IMG 1004 under the same Logical Group that the SS7 Server Node was created under. See IMG 1010 - Physical IMG.
Create a T1 or E1 Profile if not already created. IMG 1010 - Configuring T1 or E1 Bearer Profile - 10.5.x
Create a T1 or E1 Span/Interface Offset. IMG 1010 - Configuring T1 or E1 Bearer Spans - 10.5.x / IMG 1010 - Configuring T1 or E1 Signaling Spans - 10.5.x
Configure Channel Groups with CIC's:
The next step is to create channel groups along with CIC's associated with those channel groups.
Right Click on the Dialogic IMG EMS object and select New Routing Configuration. There is no configuration done in this object. Under the Routing Configuration object, the Channel Groups can get created.
Right Click on Routing Configuration and select New Channel Groups. The Channel Group main object will get created. Under this object, multiple channel groups can be created.
Right Click on Channel Groups object and select New Channel Group. Enter a name for this Channel Group and verify SS7 signaling is displayed in the "Signaling Type" field. For more information on filling out the rest of the fields in this object, see the IMG 1010 - Channel Group link.
Right Click on the Channel Group just created and select New ISUP Group. An ISUP Group Pane will get created.
In the ISUP Group Pane is an OPC-DPC field. This field has a drop down menu that will display all the SS7 stacks created. Select one of the SS7 Stack from the SS7 server node created earlier. See screen capture below displaying the OPC-DPC field.

A Circuits Pane will appear as shown below
In the IMG Name field is a drop down menu which contains all the IMG's configured. Select from drop down menu which IMG the CIC's will reside on. In this procedure the remote cics will reside on the IMG 1004 SS7 Remote node.
Select the interface on back of IMG that the CIC's will use (Bearer or Signaling). The IMG 1004 only has signaling interface as shown above.
Select from drop down menus the Starting Interface Offset/Span and Starting Channel.
Select from drop down menu the ending Interface Offset/Span and Ending Channel.
Enter the Starting CIC number by clicking in the field and entering the number.
After completing this pane the following is true of this configuration:
The IMG 1004 SS7_Remote Node now has CIC's on Interface Offset/Span 0-3 Channels 0-23.
The CIC's start with CIC# 00 and go to CIC# 23
These CIC's on the IMG 1004 are controlled by the stack on the SS7 Server Node which was selected in step 5.
