IMG 1010 - Interwork CPG message to SIP INFO after ANM

After a call is connected if the IMG receives a Call Progress (CPG) message with the Generic Notification Indicator parameter embedded, it will interwork the parameter into a SIP INFO message on the SIP side. The interworked parameter will be of the format: Generic-Notification: XY (The variables XY would be the hexadecimal representation of the generic indicator). When configured, this functionality would only apply to the CPG message received after the ANM (after call is connected). See information below.

Call Flow

Configuration

Below are instructions on how to configure the IMG to interwork the Generic Notification parameter into a SIP INFO message that is sent after the call has been connected. Verify the following entities are configured before proceeding:

Configure these initial objects before proceeding to the procedure below.

Create SIP Channel Group

Right click on Channel Groups object and select New Channel Group. Set the Signaling Type field to SIP and enter a name for this channel group. Refer to IMG 1010 - Channel Group topic for more information on configuring a SIP Channel Group.

Create SIP SGP and  SIP Headers objects

  • Right Click on the Profiles object and select New SIP SGP. Once SIP SGP pane is created, change the SIP Profile ID to something other than '0' by selecting a different ID from the drop down menu. This will allow user to edit the SIP SGP Profile. Refer to IMG 1010 - SIP Profile - 10.5.3 topic for more information on configuring this object.

  • Right Click on the SIP SGP object and select New SIP Headers. In the SIP Headers object that appears enable the Generic Notification field. See screen capture below:

Create External SIP Gateway

  • Right click on IMG EMS and select New External Network Elements. No configuration is accomplished here. The External Network Element pane is a parent object to multiple external entities in the network. Refer IMG 1010 - External Network Elements to topic for more information.

  • Right click on the External Network Elements object and select New External Gateways. Again, no configuration is accomplished here. Refer to IMG 1010 - External Gateways object for more information.

  • Right click on External Gateways object and select New External Gateway. See IMG 1010 - External Gateway for more information. Enter a name to identify this gateway, modify the Gateway Signaling Protocol field to display SIP, and enter an IP address in the Gateway IP Address field.

  • Within the SIP Profile field select the SIP SGP created above for the Generic Notification feature. See screen capture below:

  • Right click on the SIP channel group created earlier and select New IP Network Element. See IMG 1010 - IP Network Element for more information. Select the gateway created above that has the Generic Notification SIP SGP associated with it.

At this point the feature has been configured. Routing and translations can now be accomplished.

Additional Information

  • If multiple CPG messages are received from SS7 side, each CPG would be mapped to a SIP INFO message.

  • If the Generic Notification, which is an optional parameter, is not received in the CPG THEN NO sip info will be sent.

  • This functionality would only apply to messages received after the ANM (Call is answered).

  • The feature is configurable in the SIP Headers object and is disabled by default.
