SS7 - Nodes - Primary Node

The Primary Node object assigns an already configured physical node (IMG 2020) to be the Primary SS7 server node. When configuring SS7 functionality, the physical node (BN 2020) that will be used to process the SS7 signaling is configured as the Primary Node object. If SS7 Redundancy is being configured, a Primary and Secondary Node object is configured. The Primary Node will initially be configured as the active node whereas the secondary node will be configured as the standby. The Primary Node selected will be assigned the SS7 Stack and all SS7 signaling will be processed through it. To create the Primary Node object, right click on the SS7 Nodes object and select New Primary Node.

Maximum Objects

One Primary Node object can be created for each SS7 network.

Related Topics and Dependencies

The Primary Node is created under the SS7 Nodes object. The Primary node object assigns the node selected from the drop down menu to be the Primary SS7 server node. When configuring SS7 Redundancy, a Secondary Node object can be created and configured under the SS7 Nodes object. The Secondary Node object assumes the role of the Standby SS7 server. A third object under the SS7 Nodes object is labeled Remote Node. This node is created and configured to process remote SS7 CICs. Refer to the links below for more information on each of the Node Types configured under the SS7 Nodes object.

Field Descriptions

Node Name

The Node Name field contains drop down menu displaying all the IMG 2020 nodes created and configured within the Web GUI application. Select from the drop down menu, the node that will be used to process the SS7 signaling. This node will be assigned as the Primary/Active node when SS7 Redundancy is being configured.

Monitoring Fields

State

The State field displays the SS7 Redundancy status of the node selected in the Node Namefield. In the screen capture above, Node0 - ID:0 is the Active node. If a secondary node is created, the status will change to Active with Peer. If a switchover occurs, the state of the primary node will switch from Active to Standby.
