STM1 + A108 Interfaces

The STM1Mux has been optimized to interwork with four Sangoma A108 PCIe cards.

3 servers with four A108 cards + STM1Mux can achieve full OC3/STM1 capacity using only 42 RJ45 cables.
A straight RJ45 cat5 or cat6 Ethernet cable can be used to connect STM1Mux to A108 RJ45 port.
Each RJ45 (cat5/6) straight cable carries 2 T1/E1 lines. (4 wires for each port)
Each STM1Mux only takes up 1U of rack space.
A108 cards must be configured in LINEAR hardware RJ45 port map mode.
Minimum wanpipe driver that support LINEAR operation mode: wanpipe-3.5.24.tgz

Note: This picture refers to T3Mux. But STM1Mux and T3Mux share the same port mapping.

STM1Mux RJ45 Connector Specs

STM1Mux contains 42 RJ45 Ports, and each carries 2 T1/E1 lines.
Total 84T1 or 64E1 lines
First 4 wires of RJ45 connector are used for 1st T1/E1 port and
second 4 wires of RJ45 connector are used for 2nd T1/E1 port.
For each RJ45 connector the T1/E1 ports mappings are:
Port: [01,02] [03,04] [05,06] [07,08] [09,10] [11,12] [13,14]
[15,16] [17,18] [19,20] [21,22] [23,24] [25,26] [27,28]

The A108 card contains 4 RJ45 Ports, and each carries 2 T1 lines. Total of 8 T1 lines
First 4 wires of RJ45 connector are used for 1st T1 port and
second 4 wires of RJ45 connector are used for 2nd T1 port.
For each RJ45 connector the DEFAULT T1 ports mappings are:
Port: [01,05] [02,06] [03,07] [04,08]
For each RJ45 connector the LINEAR T1 ports mappings are:
Port: [01,02] [03,04] [05,06] [07,08]
This option must be specified in /etc/wanpipe/wanpipe1.conf file.

When connecting STM1Mux to 3 Servers each 4 x A108.

The A108 cards must be configured for LINEAR hardware RJ45 port mapping mode.
This way STM1Mux port numbering will match the A108 RJ45 port numbering.
Minimum wanpipe driver that currently supports LINEAR hardware RJ45 port mapping feature is wanpipe-3.5.24.tgz
