Please read How do I configure TDM cards? (Analog/PRI/BRI) for step-by-step instructions on accessing the cards page and making changes.

The most common North American PRI settings are...

  1. switchtype = national (ni2 or national 2)

  2. signalling = PRI_CPE

  3. encoding = b8zs

  4. framing = esf

  5. bchan = 1-23

  6. dchan = 24

  7. DNIS = 10 digits (however, the PBXtra automatically adjusts to the carrier's DNIS setting)

What you need before you install a PRI

  1. A "cut sheet" from your carrier.  This is typically a piece of paper with the configuration information of the PRI listed.  Please obtain a cut sheet from your carrier before you attempt to install a PRI and before you contact Fonality Support.  Fonality does not know the settings for your PRI.

  2. A physical connection between the Smart Jack (owned by the carrier) and your PBXtra .  Every PBXtra containing a Sangoma PRI card should come with the proper cable.  For reference - you will be using a cross-over cable.

  3. A "Super Looper" or "Loopback Adapter".  Fonality ships all systems with this adapter in the "accessories" box.  If you have lost or misplaced the Super Looper, you can buy one at Radio Shack for a few dollars.  The Super Looper tests to make sure the Sangoma PRI card is installed and configured correctly.

If the "most common" settings don't apply...
