SIP_ISDN Interworking

The SIP_ISDN Interworking object is used to interwork the Call Proceeding message from the ISDN side to the 183 Session Progress with SDP message when the value of the Progress Indicator parameter in the Call Proceeding message is either "1" or "8". By interworking these parameters, an early voice path can be established so the caller can hear a prompt played by the terminating endpoint. If no progress indicator is present or the value of the ISDN Progress Indicator is not "1" or "8" then the call will proceed as normal. The Call Proceeding message will be dropped and no SIP 183 Session Progress will be sent. If the feature is not configured, interworking the ISDN Call Proceeding message to the SIP leg is based on <draft-kotar-sipping-dss1-sip-iw-01.txt> section 7.3.2. The receipt of a DSS1 CALL PROCEEDING message SHALL NOT result in any SIP message being sent.

The SIP_ISDN Interworking object which is created under the SIP Profile (SGP) object is used to configure the ISDN Call Proceeding to SIP 183 Progress Interworking feature. The SIP_ISDN Interworking object will configure the functionality on the SIP side for this feature. To complete the configuration of the ISDN Call Proceeding to SIP 183 Progress feature, the Call Proceeding IW Procedure field in the ISDN Group object must be configured also. For configuration information on the ISDN Call Proceeding to SIP 183 Progress Interworking feature, refer to the Map ISDN Call Proceeding to SIP 183 topic.

Related Topics and Dependencies

The SIP_ISDN Interworking object is used when configuring the mapping of the Progress Indicator in the Call Proceeding message to the 183 Session Progress message in SIP. When configuring the feature, the SIP_ISDN Interworking configures the SIP side. The ISDN side needs to have the Call Proceeding IW field in the ISDN Group also enabled and configured for the interworking/mapping to function correctly.
