ClientView password field will not accept input

Symptom:

When running Dialogic ClientView on Linux, the user is unable to enter data in the login password field.  This can happen on any version of ClientView.

Reason for the issue:

This cause of this issue is a conflict between the Java VM and the SCIM (Smart Common Input Method) program.  When SCIM is installed, it can affect any Java application, so this issue is not unique to ClientView.   An issue in Linux package SCIM causes this (for reference, please see http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2569128&group_id=108454&atid=650539 ).

Fix / Solution:

The Dialogic Gate Control Element Management System (GCEMS) and ClientView do not require the SCIM application, so it is recommended that SCIM is disabled or uninstalled from the GCEMS server.

Workarounds:

  1. Copy the password from another text field and paste it using a mouse click (do not use the keyboard), or

  2. Use EventView to create a new ClientView user account with a null password.
