How to log problems on DMG1000/2000, minimum/initial settings.

Overview

This article explains how to set up tracing on the Dialogic 1000 Media Gateways and Dialogic 2000 Media Gateways (collectively, "DMG Gateways"). Tracing is used to help diagnose issues that may be related to a DMG Gateway when working with Dialogic's technical services and support team.

These settings are a good starting point for analyzing most issues.

Open the HTTP configuration interface by pointing your browser to the DMG Gateway's IP address. Go to Diagnostics > Trace/Logging. Click on 'Configure' on the Trace line. Click 'Check all' for the following items: Gw, RouteTable, Tel, Teldrv, VoIP and Pbn. Click 'Submit'. Go back to the Trace/Logging screen. Click on 'Configure' on the Network Capture line. Uncheck the RTP box for LAN1. If you leave the box checked, no RTP will be logged, so no audio can be extracted with Wireshark. Click 'Submit'. Start the network capture. Start the trace. Reproduce the issue. Stop and then download the trace and network capture, and compress them if you need to send them to Dialogic support.

NOTE

If you wish to trace the DMG Gateway's behavior prior, during, and right after a reboot, please use the syslog facility. Syslog configuration instructions are available in the User's Guide. ( )
