Setting Up OpenVPN Server

  • Now that we have M3 installed, we need to set up an OpenVPN Server.  Normally the OpenVPN server will be the same as the M3 server, but it can be a different server if you want.

  • Clicking on M3 Setup then the OpenVPN option will bring up the OpenVPN Setup section.

  • We can now choose the Advanced option or Auto Deploy.  We will pick Auto Deploy, which will set up the OpenVPN Services on the same server as the M3 server.  Clicking Advanced will walk you through setting up the OpenVPN Service on a different Server.

  • We now can choose if we want to enable routing mode between all servers that are set up with a OpenVPN connection from this server.  If this is disabled, you will be able to access any Server nodes from M3, but those servers will not be able to communicate to each other directly across the OpenVPN tunnels.

  • Optionally you can also change the IP Subnet that the OpenVPN server will use.

  • Once done with your changes, press the "Update Now" button to submit your changes.

  • M3 will now set up the OpenVPN services on your server.  At the top you will see the "Worker" status will show Active, not Idle, which informs us M3 is doing some setup and background work.

  • Now it's time to start connecting our PBXs to M3 for Management.
