Setting up M3 for the first time

  • Go to the IP address of your M3 server in a Web Browser.

    • You will be prompted to define an Admin Email address, which will be your default login. A password will be emailed to this address when the account is created.

    • On most systems you should be able to accept the default database setup unless you have created a root password for the MySQL database.

    • Press the "Install M3" button.

  • We now need to register M3 with the License server.  You should see a screen like the one below.

    • If the email address you used to create your M3 login is associated with a Schmooze Portal account, the system will detect that and prompt you to enter your Portal password to activate the license.

  • If the email address you used to create your M3 login is not recognized as a valid user for the Schmooze Portal, the system will prompt you to enter a valid email address for the Schmooze Portal or direct you to create a Portal Account so we can apply the license for your M3 setup.

  • You will now be prompted to provide an existing Deployment ID that has already been licensed for M3. If you have an existing deployment ID, enter it here. Or, if this is a new deployment, leave the "Deployment ID" field blank and the system will generate a new deployment ID for you. Click "Continue."

  • The system will validate your deployment and generate a license.

    • Your M3 system will now be licensed with the Schmooze Portal. A Deployment ID will be created and your two free licenses will be activated.  To purchase additional PBX licenses, please review this wiki on purchasing deployment licenses.

    • If you provided an existing Deployment ID, all licensed items for the existing M3 deployment will be included.

  • You will now be prompted to create a user by providing a name and optionally a server name for your M3 server.  An email will be sent to the email address with a temporary password for logging in to your M3 server.

  • M3 will now complete the setup and prompt you when done.
