What is the Advanced Settings Module used for?
The Advanced Settings Module is a module that is used in FreePBX 2.10 and higher to set a variety of different settings.
How Do I Get to the Advanced Settings Module?
To access the Advanced Settings Module in FreePBX 2.10, access the graphical user interface using a web browser. Click on the "Settings" pull down menu at the top and then select "Advanced Settings".
What Do Each of the Advanced Settings Options Mean?
You can get a general description of what each option does by placing your mouse on the question mark to the right of the option, and a tooltip will appear that explains the option.
After you make a change, you'll need to click on the green check mark that appears to the right of the option to confirm your selection. When you've made all the changes you want, click on the red "Apply Config" button at the top of the screen.
There are several options that you may want to consider changing from the default:
Dialplan and Operational:
Force All Internal Auto Answer: Enable if you want internal calls to always be treated as an intercom call. You can also enable this feature on a per extension basis in the Extensions Module.
Show All Device Settings on Add: Enabling this will make it so that when you add a new extension using the Extensions Module, you will see options that otherwise would only be accessible when you edited the Extension later.
Send rpid: This field sets the default Send rpid setting for newly created extensions. See the Extensions Module instructions for how to use this field. You may wish to set this to "PAI".
SIP and DAHDi callgroup: This field sets the default callgroup for newly created extensions. See the Extensions Module instructions for how to use this field. You may wish to set this to "1".
SIP and DAHDi pickupgroup: This field sets the default pickup group for newly created extensions. See the Extensions Module instructions for how to use this field. You may wish to set this to "1".
Enable Custom Device States: See the tooltip. You may wish to enable this if it is not enabled by default.
Waiting Period to Stop Asterisk: If you use the "amportal stop" or "amportal restart" option at the Linux command line while someone is on a call, Asterisk will wait for the call to end for this period of time before disconnecting it and then stopping. The default is 120 seconds. You may wish to change this time period.
Asterisk Dial Command Options: You may wish to change this to "r".
Ringtime Default: Your preference
24-hour format: You may wish to change this to "No."
Ring Group Module:
Display Extension Ring Group Members: See the tooltip. You may wish to enable this.
System Setup:
User & Devices Mode: Change this to "deviceanduser" only if you want to enable Device & User Mode. Click here for more information about Device & User Mode.
