Switchvox Phone Becomes Sangoma Phone
There are some changes happening to the desktop softphone app that you know and love. The Switchvox Phone app will now be known as Sangoma Phone. In an effort to consolidate the desktop apps across our multiple platforms (Switchvox, FreePBX, and PBXact), we now have a single app for use across all of those platforms-hence the name change!
Once you install or update to 3.1.1, you’ll see that the name has changed to Sangoma Phone. For details about the release and a list of fixed bugs, see the Desktop Softphone Release Notes.
Note for macOS users: For some macOS versions, the app will not restart after the update, and you will need to find and open the Sangoma Phone app in your Applications. You may also need to correct your shortcut to the app.
Why are we changing the name? In an effort to consolidate the desktop application across our multiple platforms (Switchvox, FreePBX, and PBXact), we decided to develop a single app for use across all of those platforms-hence the name change!
When will this change take place? This change is currently live as version 3.1.1. You will see the new name once you upload your current desktop softphone version to 3.1.1. If you do not yet have the app, it will install as Sangoma Phone.
Why does my app still say Switchvox Phone? Your current desktop app will still say Switchvox Phone until you upgrade to 3.1.1 of the app.
