IMG 1010 - Configuring an External H.323 Gateway

Below is procedure used to configure an external/remote H.323 Gateway. Up to 1024 external H.323 or SIP Gateways from which the IMG may receive calls can be created. To configure a group of external/remote H.323 gateways, use the Gateway Mask field to validate a range of IP addresses.

Procedure:

Create an H.323 Signaling Stack

Before configuring an H.323 External Gateway, the H.323 signaling stack must get created. To create the stack, the IP network interface, VoIP module, and IP Bearer Profile must be created.  The next few steps will create H.323 Signaling stack.

Create IP Network Interface and IP Bearer Profile:

  • Right Click on the IMG Name (Physical IMG) and select New Network. From this object, the interfaces on rear of IMG can be configured. In this procedure, the DATA interface which will interface with the VoIP module will be configured. See IMG 1010 - IP Network (Interface) for more information on the IP Network element. If using an older build then see IMG 1010 - Configuring VoIP

  • Right Click on IP Network just created and select New IP address. Select VoIP Module from drop down menu in the Physical Interface field and leave the Logical Interface as Data if using the Data Port on rear of IMG. See IMG 1010 - IP Address for more information on populating this object. If using an older build, see IMG 1010 - Configuring VoIP.

  • Configure IP Bearer Profiles. See IMG 1010 - Configuring IP Bearer Profiles.

Create IP Bearer Facility:

Create H323 Signaling Stack:

  • Right-click External Elements and select New External Gateways

  • Right-click External Gateways and select New External Gateway

    • Gateway IP Address- Click in field and enter IP address of the external/remote H.323 gateway in the 'Enter IP Address' box that appears.

    • Gateway Mask- Click in field and enter an address mask. This can be used to validate a range of IP addresses for multiple GW's.

    • Gateway Remote Port- Default Port is 1720 and cannot be changed.

The following options are used only when configuring a SIP gateway. The field will be greened out and information cannot be entered:
