You and your fellow Switchvox Desktop Softphone users can easily elevate a conversation to a Meet, so that everyone can enjoy seeing each other and sharing computer screens.

Here’s how it works: in a call or a chat, open the Meet icon. It's shown here in the upper-right of the call card next to the new Conference Manager icon:

  • If you’re on a call, you're asked to confirm that you want to move the call to a Meet. When you confirm, then a new Meet window displays for everyone in the call, and the audio is moved to Sangoma Meet.

  • If you’re in a chat, everyone gets an invitation to join the Meet.

As the person who started the Meet, you are the moderator and enjoy everything that role offers.

Notes about calls and moving to a Meet conference:

  • If you are already on a call, the Meet button is inactive in your Chat windows.

  • The Meet icon is only active in an ad hoc (Merged) Meetme audio conference if you are the one who initially Merged the calls. The person who initially Merged calls to create a Meetme conference is the admin of that conference, can elevate the call to a Meet, and is the moderator of the Meet.

Coming soon: if you're on a call where some of your Switchvox coworkers don't have the Switchvox Softphone, or you have external callers in the conversation, you can all move to a Meet and still be part of the conversation.

Merge Button to Conference Calls Together

Merge two of your callers together for an ad hoc Meetme audio conference – then merge in another caller! It’s not just 3-way calling.

Because it’s a Meetme audio conference, you can hang up and the other callers can continue the conversation. To end the conference for everyone, use the End Conf button in the Conference Manager (explained below).

This gives you an assisted transfer feature, and a 'consultative transfer' feature, with the ability to talk with the other callers before you exit the call.

Call Button from a Chat Starts a Meetme Audio Conference

If you’re chatting with a group of people or in a chat room, the Call button starts an ad hoc Meetme audio conference. This rings everyone’s phones to invite them to join; all they have to do is answer the phone. (If you’re chatting with one person, the Call button calls that person directly.)

Conference Manager Allows Mute and Kick

When you are in a Meetme audio conference, the Conference Manager icon is available.

Open the Conference Manager to see the participants of the Meetme audio conference, as well as who is talking and the duration of the conference and each participant.

As the admin who started an ad hoc Meetme audio conference (or as the admin of an extension's Meetme room), you can:

  • Mute any participant

  • Mute everyone but you

  • Kick a participant out of the conference

  • End the conference entirely, which kicks everyone out

Chat Improvements

Chat Rooms

Public and Private rooms allow newcomers to a Room to see its past messages (up to 60 days; all chat messages are deleted after 60 days). Public Rooms can be found using the Search feature, and anyone can join the Room. Anyone can create a Public Room.

Edit and Delete

Chat messages can be edited or deleted by the author.

Notification improvements

The incoming chat notification can now display a truncated version of the incoming message.

Idle Settings

You can set the Desktop Softphone to automatically change your Status if you're idle for a period of time. Once you come back to the app, you're automatically set back to your previous Status.

Issues Resolved

  • In the Switchvox Desktop Softphone:

    • Error messages are corrected where they sometimes could not be closed/dismissed.

    • SMS messages from external numbers are now correctly matched with a contact even if the contact's number  is not formatted with a 1 prefix;

    • Custom Status settings are now displayed correctly.

    • In Chat, hyperlinks are now added even when the protocol is not defined (e.g., http://www.sangoma.com is now linked).

  • Sangoma Connect Mobile app: in the event of a problem sending the configuration file, the process did not always try again and that has been corrected.
