CIC Service Rule:

Indicates what SS7 message , if any, the responsible SS7 stack sends when IMG takes this SS7 channel Out-Of-Service.

Block - The SS7 stack sends an SS7 Blocking (BLO) message. If stack is brought back into service it will send an SS7 Unblocking (UBL) message.

No Block - The SS7 stack does not send SS7 message. This stack will send an SS7 Reset Circuit (RSC) message when the IMG puts this SS7 channel back in service.

No Action - The SS7 stack does not send an SS7 message. Required setting when Exchange Type in SS7 Stack is configured as Type A.

Hop Counter:

This list indicates the number of switches that can process the call before the responsible switch rejects the call.

Off (Default) - Feature is Disabled. Switch will not reject call.

01-31 - Select from drop down list the number of switches that can process the call before call is dropped.

Parameter Compatibility Pass On:

Determines the behavior of IMG when receiving an incompatible parameter in an ISUP message, whether to pass it to the far end or not.

Off (Do Not Pass)

On (Pass)

Overload Handling:

This configures how the IMG responds upon getting busy (low idle time). The IMG can indicate to the far end that it is overloaded either by releasing (REL) the call or by sending an OLM (Overload Message).

Send REL

Send OLM

UPT upon UPU:

This configures how the IMG responds upon receiving a UPU (User Part Unavailable) from the far end of the CIC. If enabled, the IMG will send a UPT (User Part Test) message continuously until any ISUP message is received from the far end of the CIC.

Yes (enable)

No (disable)

Transmission Medium:

Information sent in the forward direction indicating the type of transmission medium required for the connection. The Transmission Medium field determines the value of the transmission medium parameter in any IAM message referring to that CIC. The selections are displayed below.

  • Speech

  • 64 Kbit Unrestricted

  • 3.1 KHz audio

Propagation Delay:

If enabled, when the IMG receives an IAM message with no Propagation delay specified, the propagated IAM message to the far end will contain the ‘Propagation Delay counter’ parameter with the value set in the Propagation Delay Time field (below).

If the IAM message coming to the IMG already contains a propagation delay value, the propagated IAM message to the far end will contain the ‘Propagation Delay counter’ parameter with the value set to the sum of the incoming Propagation Delay Time field (below).

See IMG 1010 - Local Number Portability (LNP)

Link OOS Handling:

Disable (Default) - Functionality is same as previous software. If Signaling Link goes Out Of Service, then the associated CIC's will go Out Of Service as well.

Enable - If signaling link goes Out Of Service all associated CIC's which are in the idle state will go Out Of Service. If any CIC's are in either the ringing or connected state the CIC's will not go Out Of Service until a later subsequent condition occurs. See IMG 1010 - SS7 Link OOS Handling for more information on configuration and functionality.

Feature F-5134 SS7 Link Out Of Service was added to software 10.5.2_ER3 only. The feature was not added to any other build until 10.5.3_ER1. From there, all subsequent builds after 10.5.3_ER1 will have the feature in it.

CUGS (Closed User Group) Handling:

The Closed User Group field was added in software 10.5.3_ER1 and adds to the IMG the ability to either pass or reject calls which have the CUG parameter (Interlock Codes) embedded in it. If CUG parameter is not in the incoming call then the call will be passed regardless of the selection in the CUGS Handling field. Select from drop down menu one of the selections below.

Important: The IMG doesn't process the data within the CUG parameter. The IMG accepts or rejects the call with the CUGS parameter based on the configuration.

Reject Calls (Default) - If IMG receives a call with the CUG parameters (Interlock Codes) then IMG will reject the call with a cause code of 29 facility rejected. See Call Trace - CUG rejected which is call trace of rejected call with CUG parameter.

Ignore - If IMG receives a call with the CUG parameters (Interlock Codes) then the IMG will pass the call. See Call Trace - CUG passed which is a call trace of a passed call with CUG parameter.

Allow based on OFCI (Optional Forward Call Indicators) - When the IMG receives a CUG parameter in the incoming IAM the IMG will handle the call based on the bits BA in the OFCI as follows:

OFCI bits BA

BA bits = 10 (CUG call, outgoing access allowed)

Call is passed through IMG

BA bits = anything other than 10

Call is rejected with cause code 87 (User not member of CUG)

Transparent ISUP via SIP-T

The field Transparent ISUP via SIP-T is utilized when messaging is being received via SIP-T on incoming channel group and is being sent out of IMG via an SS7 ISUP Channel group. Before configuring verify that SIP-T is enabled and configured. See SIP Signaling - SIP and SIP Signaling - SIP-T Entity  for more information on configuring/enabling SIP-T:

Once the SIP-T is configured then the Transparent ISUP via SIP-T field can be configured.

Disabled (Default) - When field is set to Disabled (Default) the IMG will function normally. Messages received via SIP-T will be processed through the IMG and any parameters that are added or modified through the IMG configuration will be modified and sent out the SS7 ISUP channel group in an outgoing IAM message.

Enabled - When field is set to Enabled any messages being received via SIP-T will be sent to the outgoing ISUP channel group unchanged regardless of the configuration set on the IMG. Any modifications or parameter overrides due to the configuration set on the IMG will be ignored.

Outgoing Parameter Compatibility Insertion

The IMG can be configured to add compatibility information to the ISUP portion of an outgoing IAM message. The compatibility information added are instructions of what to do when an exchange receives unrecognized signaling information. These parameters are invoked to ensure predictable network behavior.

False (Default) - Do not add the compatibility information to outgoing IAM optional parameters.

True - When True is selected, this opens multiple fields below it. The fields opened are the compatibility information that can be added to the outgoing IAM optional parameters. After selecting true, you will need to configure the compatibility fields below.

Transit at intermediate exchange

transit interpretation - If set to transit interpretation, the remaining indicators are ignored at the far end exchange.

end node interpretation - If it is set to end node interpretation, the actions in accordance with the setting of the remaining indicators are performed at the far end exchange.

Release Call

do not release call - The Call is not released if an unrecognized parameter is received at far end exchange.

release call - The Call is released if an unrecognized parameter is received at far end exchange.

Send Notification

If an unrecognized parameter is received at far end exchange and the Release Call indicator is set to do not release call then the following is true.

do not send notification - no messages are sent.

send notification - a confusion message is sent towards the exchange that sent the unrecognized information.

Discard Message

If an unrecognized parameter is received at far end exchange and the Release Call indicator is set to do not release call then the following is true.

do not discard message (pass on) - the message is passed on to far end exchange.

discard message - The message is discarded as instructed.

Discard Parameter

If an unrecognized parameter is received at far end exchange and the Release Call indicator is set to do not release call then the following is true.

do not discard parameter (pass on) - the parameter is passed on to the far end exchange.

discard parameter - The parameter is discarded as instructed.

Pass On Not Possible

If an unrecognized parameter is received at far end exchange and the Release Call indicator is set to do not release call then the following is true.

release call - call will be released and nothing is passed on.

discard message - The message is discarded as instructed.

discard parameter - The parameter is discarded as instructed.

Extension

Information sent in every octet in a multi-octet parameter field with variable length, indicating whether the octet is the last one or is followed by another one.

information continues through the next octet - decimal value is greater than 255 will require the use of the parameter extension mechanism.

last octet - decimal value is less than 255 will not require the use of the parameter extension mechanism.

Broadband/narrowband interworking

Information indicating reaction to be taken if unrecognized information is received at a broadband/narrow-band interworking point.

pass on - Pass the information on.

discard message - The message is discarded as instructed.

release call - call will be released and nothing is passed on.

discard parameter - The parameter is discarded as instructed.
