Removing Program Keys on the Phone

Program keys such as Voicemail and Menu are enabled by default.  To disable these keys, you will need to modify the basefile of the template for which you want the buttons disabled.

Program Keys that can be disabled

  • Speaker

  • Headet

  • Voicemail

  • Menu

  • Volume Up

  • Volume Down

Note: In addition to enable and disable, the Menu key also has an optional PIN mode, requiring that a specified PIN be entered before showing the menu.

Program Keys that can be remapped for other purposes

  • Up

  • Down

  • Left

  • Right

  • OK

  • Cancel

  • Conference

  • Hold

  • Mute

  • Transfer

How to disable or remap a Program Key

At this time, the remapping settings for most keys can only be changed from the Base File editor in Endpoint Manager. Please review How to use Base File Editor in EPM.

  • The Menu and Menu PIN settings can be changed in a template in Endpoint Manager.  The options are Menu Key Type and Menu PIN.

The P Codes that you will want to change for the remapping are listed below.

 

  • P43204

    • EPM Default Value: 36

    • Description: Up arrow key type.

  • P43205

    • EPM Default Value: 37

    • Description: Down arrow key type.

  • P43206

    • EPM Default Value: 49

    • Description: Left arrow key type.

  • P43207

    • EPM Default Value: 50

    • Description: Right arrow key type.

  • P43208

    • EPM Default Value: 40

    • Description: OK key type.

  • P43209

    • EPM Default Value: 0

    • Description: Cancel key type.

  • P43210

    • EPM Default Value: 0

    • Description: Conference key type.

  • P43211

    • EPM Default Value: 0

    • Description: Hold key type.

  • P43212

    • EPM Default Value: 0

    • Description: Mute key type.

    • EPM Default Value: 0

    • Description: Transfer key type.
