How to use Base File Editor in EPM
Overview
Base file Editor in Endpoint Manager was designed to allow administrators override or adjust any configuration setting. Â You can add, delete or modify any setting, even if we missed including it. Â You can have the change affect specific model(s) or all models.
Accessing Base File Editor in EPM
Go into End Point Manager in your PBX and select the Basefile brand in the menu.
Click on the template that you want to modify.Â
Select the model you wish to see the base files for. Â This is only to show you the entries. Â Changes can be made for multiple brands, but in the case of Sangoma, you would see two different config files if you chose S500 vs Vega3000.
Below is a small portion of a configuration file for a Sangoma S500
Â
Items in RED have been modified.
Removed entries are listed at the end of the config file.
To bring back a removed entry, select the entry and choose "Delete Entry"
To add an entry, at the bottom of the config file click the "Add Entry" button then follow the instructions below for modifying an entry.
To modify an existing entry, click on the blue text for the entry you wish to change. Â IE: <P3>__line1Name__</P3>
Once an entry has been selected, you will see a window with the base file entry information
Select the models that you would like this setting to apply to.
Select the type of device. Even if you choose a phone model, you still need to choose Phone type.
Description is not needed, but makes the configuration file more readable.
Parameter is the "P-Code" for the setting.
Value can be any value you would like.  You are also able to use any variables from Variables-Version 12.X or greater
If you are editing an existing setting, or adding a setting, click "Change Basefile" to save.
If you want to remove a stock setting, you can click the "Delete Entry" button.
You now need to update the phone configuration file. The three options at the bottom of the base file edit are:
Save - This will only save your changes into the PBX database. It will not write out new config files for the phones that are using this template as mapped in the Extension Mapping section of End Point Manager.
Save and Rebuild Config(s) - This will save your changes to the PBX Database and will also write out new config files for the phones that are using this template as mapped in the Extension Mapping section of End Point Manager. The phones will need to be rebooted in order to retrieve the changes.
Save, Rebuild Config(s) and Update Phones - This will save your changes to the PBX Database and will also write out new config files for the phones that are using this template as mapped in the Extension Mapping section of End Point Manager. EPM will also immediately send a SIP Notify to the phones to have them check for a new configuration file.  Sangoma phones do not require a reboot for most changes.
