SS7 Overview
The information below displays the supported SS7 Feature Set along with the supported SS7 functional specifications.
Basic SS7 Features
Feature | Description |
---|---|
Forward Call Indicators Override | Forward Call Indicators contain information relating to the characteristics of the connection, signaling path and called party sent in the forward direction. The originating and terminating endpoints exchange signaling capabilities using call indicators. This is a mandatory parameter in IAM messages, which is used in countries that offer CUG (closed user group) service. The FCI Override object pane gives the IMG 2020 the ability send or ignore various indicators. See SS7 - Destination - ISUP Group - FCI Override. |
Backward Call Indicators Override | Backward Call Indicators contain information relating to the characteristics of the connection, signaling path and called party sent in the backward direction. The originating and terminating endpoints exchange signaling capabilities using call indicators .The backward indicators are displayed in the ACM, ANM, or CPG messages. The BCI Override object pane gives the IMG 2020 the ability send or ignore various indicators. For more information refer to the SS7 - Destination - ISUP Group - BCI Override topic. |
Location Override | Location Override Indicator describes which part of the network was the reason a RELEASE message was issued. The location override can be used to override the location value sent by the IMG 2020 using the Cause Indication parameter in the Release (REL) message within an SS7 call. Refer to the SS7 - Destination - ISUP Group - Location Override topic for more information. |
TMR-USI Override | The TMR (Transmission Medium Requirement) and USI (User Service Indicator) override allows the IMG 2020 to override these parameters on the outgoing IAM. Refer to SS7 - Destination - ISUP Group - TMR-USI Override topic for more information |
Circuit Query Message | Through the Circuit Group object a CQM can be sent to query the state of a CIC. The CQM (Circuit Query Message) and CQR (Circuit Query Request) are printed in Call Tracing. The Circuit Query Message can query one CIC at a time and cannot query a range of CICs. Refer to Circuit Group topic for more information. |
COT (Continuity Test) | The COT test on the IMG 2020 can be used for checking the continuity between the IMG 2020 and a far end SS7 switching point. The COT test can be administered at the CIC level to test trunks manually as part of maintenance. See Circuit Group topic. The COT test can also be invoked automatically on each call by enabling the Incoming or Out Continuity Check fields within the IMG 1010 - ISUP Group - ANSI or IMG 1010 - ISUP Group - ITU / ETSI objects. |
Pre/Post support for GRS/GRA | The IMG 2020 supports the GRS (Group Reset Message) and GRA (Group Reset Acknowledge) message. For ISUP ANSI it supports both Pre ANSI 1995 and Post ANSI 1995. Refer to SS7 - ISUP Profile - ANSI for more information. |
Suppress UCIC (Unequipped Circuit Codes) | The Suppress UCICs feature controls the sending of the UCIC. By default, UCIC is sent for National calls, and is suppressed for International calls based on the Network Indicator setting of the SS7 Stack. Enabling and Disabling this parameter is accomplished in the Suppress UCIC field of the SS7 Stack object. Refer to SS7 - Stack topic for more information |
