Appliance Installation

Unboxing

When unboxing your appliance packaging carefully inspect the components for any signs of damage due to shipping.
If you notice any damaged components please contact your point of purchase and indicate the issue.
Do not continue to install your appliance if any of your components are damaged.

What's In the Box

Depending on the unit ordered, your package should contain the following items (click to expand box contents):
 

1 U 8 port T1/E1 appliance

  • 1 scalable 8 port T1/E1 NetBorder VoIP Gateway

  • 1 D100 DSP transcoding module (fitted on front/back slot of appliance seen with solid metal bracket with two LEDS)

  • 1 TDM interface (fitted on front slot of appliance)

    • Number of T1/E1 ports dependent on ordering options

  • TDM Cables

    • Number of TDM cables match the number of ports on TDM interface

  • Country specific Power cord

  • RJ45 to USB Console cable

  • NetBorder VoIP Gateway Quick Start Guide pamphlet

1 U 32 port T1/E1 appliance

  • 1 scalable 32 port T1/E1 NetBorder VoIP Gateway

  • 1 D500 DSP transcoding module (fitted on back slot of appliance )

  • TDM interfaces (fitted on rear slot of appliance)

      • 2x 16 port TDM interface has SCSI type 68-pin connection interface.

  • TDM Cables

    • Cables dependent on TDM interface purchase order

      • 8 port TDM interface includes 4 RJ45 Y-Cables which split to 8 RJ45 connectors.

      • 16-port TDM interface includes 1 SCSI to RJ45 cable, per 16 port TMD interface.

        • 16 port breakout pannel (SCSI to RJ45) included in 16 port VoIP Gateway purchase when ordered with 16-port interface

        • 32 port breakout pannel (SCSI to RJ45) included in 32 port VoIP Gateway purchase when ordered with two 16-port interface

  • Country specific Power cord

  • RJ45 to USB Console cable

  • 1 x rack mount rails and kit

  • Quick Start Guide pamphlet

2 U 64 port T1/E1 appliance

  • 1 64 port T1/E1 NetBorder VoIP Gateway

  • 1 D500 DSP transcoding module (fitted in top right slot in rear of appliance, seen with 2 RJ45 and USB ports)

  • 1 D100 DSP transcoding module (fitting in middle slot in rear of appliance,seen with solid metal bracket with two LEDS)

  • TDM interfaces (fitted on rear slot of appliance)

    • 4 x a116 16-port Interfaces, seen with 68-pin SCSI connector

  • TDM Cables

    • Each 16-port TDM interface includes 1 SCSI to RJ45 cable, 4 in total

    • 2 x 32 port breakout panels (SCSI to RJ45) included in appliance purchase

  • 4 x Eth Cables

  • RJ45 to USB Console cable

  • 1 x rack mount rails and kit

  • 2 x Country specific Power cord

  • Quick Start Guide pamphlet

 

Hardware Installation

  1. First decide where you want to mount your NetBorder SS7 Gateway. If not mounting on a rack, verify the unit is placed on a flat level surface, away from moisture. Also verify adequate ventilation to prevent the unit from overheating.

  2. If the appliance will be rack mounted, follow the rack mount installation steps:

  1. Connect all cables, peripherals, and power cords

License Installation

Your appliance comes pre-installed with the license according to the purchase order. If you would like to upgrade your license to include more T1/E1 SS7 ports please contact our sales department at sales@sangoma.com

 

Log into NSG webGUI

  1. To connect to the appliance, utilize the serial console port or VGA port and connect to a monitor, with USB keyboard.

    1. Note: Some previous versions of this hardware had an IPMI port  for configuration. If you hardware has an IPMI port, instructions for using it are here:  ftp://ftp.sangoma.com/nsc/Sangoma-NetBorder-IPMI-UserGuide.pdf

  2. By default the NSG appliance gets shipped with following configuration.
    - Static IP 192.168.168.2 / 255.255.255.0
    - Static IP Port eth0 (Primary Ethernet Interface Port)
    - WebUI URL http://192.168.168.2:81
    - Username: root
    - Password: sangoma
