Received Faxes

As a FAXStation user, you can receive faxes. Anyone who wants to send you a fax simply needs to dial your fax DID as they would dial any other fax number. This is the case whether they are using the traditional public swtiched telphone network (PSTN), SIPStation, FAXStation, or a third-party Fax over IP solution.

Remember, an admin controls which users can see which DIDs. Admins can see all DIDs by default, but regular fax users need specific permission to view DIDs in order to see faxes for that DID.

How to Find a Received Fax

When a fax arrives via your FAXStation trunk, this new fax will be shown in the Inbox folder of the eFax Portal at https://fax.sipstation.com.

Note

The eFax Portal shows all faxes received by the system, regardless of whether they were successfully delivered to a physical fax device. The portal does not indicate whether a physical device has received a fax.

Resending a Received Fax to a Device

The Resend button within the inbox is used to send a fax to your physical FAXStation device again. You would normally only use this button if you are using physical fax equipment. The resend feature could be used, for example, if you need to print another copy of the fax on the fax machine, or if the fax machine for some reason did not receive the incoming fax.

The "resend" function is not to be confused with "retrying," where the system tries to send an outbound fax multiple times. Also, the "resend" function is not to be confused with "forwarding," where you send a fax to a different destination. The resend function is only associated with inbound faxes.

How to Resend a Fax

Go to the Inbox.

Check the box at the left side of the row to select the fax.

Click the Resend button.

An alert message will appear: "These faxes will be re-queued to be sent to their associated physical fax device and printed, even if the device is configured as an outbound-only device. If there is no device associated with the fax at this time, no action will be taken."

Click OK to proceed.

Note

You will not see the fax in your Outbox, or receive any other indication as to the status of the "resend." You will need to check the physical fax equipment to determine whether the resend was successful.
