Have you ever found yourself swarmed by unwanted "spam" callers from a particular number? This article is for you! Read on to learn more about blocking unwanted callers with simple call menu steps.

Things to consider before implementing

  1. When entering the caller ID number that you wish to block in the main menu, you should

not include the dial -out prefix, this is only for outbound calls. For example, use 2225551212 instead of 92225551212.

  1. If you receive 11 digit caller ID numbers, e.g, 12225551212 instead of 2225551212, or 02225551212 instead of 2225551212 PBXtra will be unable to block the call. PBXtra   cannot read nonstandard caller ID formatting that begins with 1 or 0. You'll need to contact your telecom service provider to modify your caller ID service.

  2. PBXtra is unable to block calls that show "unknown" or "blocked" as their caller ID. To prevent these calls from reaching you, you'll need to contact your telecom service provider.

  3. Naturally, incoming calls via analog telephone lines require more time to transmit caller ID. If you find that routing by or blocking caller ID isn't working - Try adding a step to "Wait" for 2 seconds as the very first step in your MAIN menu and then implement

How To Implement

  1. Log into your web administration panel and navigate to the AutoAnswer --> sub-menus  tab, create a new sub-menu called Block_Calls.

  2. In the list of sub-menus, click on Block_Calls

  3. Check the box for "add new sequence", and select after step 1 add new step "Hang-up".

  7. Click apply all  changes.

  8. In the new step 2, change the sequence to Go to Block_Calls if caller ID number is [fill in the number you wish to block] for example 2225551212.

  9. Click apply all changes.

10. Callers [in this example] from 2225551212 will now be automatically directed to your "Block_calls" sub-menu and dispatched accordingly. Enjoy your new-found-freedom from unwanted callers!
