SMS for Sangoma Talk Mobile

Talk Mobile can be used to send and receive SMS (text messages) to and from an external phone number. This requires version 14.0.8/15.0.8 or later.

SMS messages in the Talk mobile app are the same messages in Zulu Desktop, so a user can work in either app and still access their SMS messages.

Requirements

If you purchase a new DID / Enable the SMS for SIPStation OR VoIP Innovation account, you would want to come back to the SIPSTATION / Metered SIP Trunking(VoIP Innovations) module and update the account information by clicking the Refresh Asterisk Account Info button followed by the "Apply Config" button.

Setup

  1. Ensure that the requirements are met as described above.

  2. In Admin => User Management, click on the “SIPStation SMS” OR "VoIP Innovations SMS" tab and choose the “SMS Assigned DIDs”.

  3. Click on Submit button.

  4. In Admin => User Management => SangomaTalk click on the Sangoma Talk Mobile App Tab.

  5. Enable SMS for a user, as appropriate.
Note: If you were already using SMS with the Zulu Module, any user who had SMS enabled there will automatically be enabled for SMS in the SangomaTalk tab. If you prefer, you can disable SMS for the Talk user and it will not affect the Zulu user.

  6. Select the Caller ID for New SMS
If the user has multiple SMS DIDs (as defined in UCP), this is the DID that is used as caller ID when the user sends a new text message. If the user receives a text message that was sent to another of their DIDs, their response will include caller ID of that DID, not the DID indicated here.

  7. Click the Invite button to send an invitation email to the user (optional).
To add or remove SMS, the Sangoma Talk Mobile app must be Reset, and the user must reconfigure. If you do not choose to send the invitation email at this time, a user can do this for themselves at any time (see Replacement Email Invitation).
