Supported Codecs

The IP Profile object in the Web UI is used to define a set of VoIP Parameters used in either a SIP or H.323 channel group. Once the IP Profile object has been configured, a list of vocoders can be added to it through the Vocoder Profile object. The codecs added through the Vocoder Profile will be the list of codecs that will be used during the offer/answer process. During the negotiation process, the IMG 2020 will start with the topmost Vocoder Profile entry under the IP Profile object and work its way down the list until codec negotiation with the far end gateway is satisfied. The user can set the priority of each vocoder profile entry by moving the entry up or down the list. Refer to the topic for information on setting the priority.

IP Port Density

The number of IP ports that are supported per codec is a function of the following selections:

  • Media Mode selected in the physical node object.

  • Number of DSP's installed and licensed for that IMG 2020 node.

Refer to the Physical Node - Direct Connect or Physical Node - Multinode topics for tables that display the max number of IP channels supported per Media Mode and which codecs are supported in the Media Mode selected.

Additional Information

  • From RFC 3551, 4.5.2:G.722 sampling rate is changed for backward compatibility. The actual sampling rate for G.722 IS 16000 Hz, the RTP clock rate for G.722 is 8000 Hz. Because that value was assigned in RFC 1890 and must remain unchanged for backward compatibility.

  • All Codecs support transition to fax Relay Mode.

  • All Codecs support SRTP.
