The Sigtran Link object is created under the Sigtran Links object if the stack being configured is being used as a Signaling Gateway (SG) Server. If however, the stack being created is an Application Server, the Sigtran Link object is created under the Remote Signaling Gateway object. In both instances the Sigtran Link object has the same fields to configure. The sigtran links/associations being configured carry M3UA signaling messages over an SCTP association. See below for more information.Â

Maximum Objects
Standalone Configuration - 16 sigtran links/associations per stack. 64 total sigtran links/associations per server
Redundancy Configuration - 16 sigtran links/associations per stack. 128 total sigtran links/associations per redundant configuration

Field Descriptions
Link ID
The Link ID field is automatically populated with the next available ID. Link ID's range from Link ID 0 to Link ID 63. To change the Link ID click in the Link ID field and select new ID from drop down menu.
Primary/Secondary (Default: Primary)
Select from the drop down menu whether the link will be used on a Primary M3UA server or on a Secondary M3UA server.
Primary - The sigtran link/association being configured will be associated with the primary SG or remote SG Server.
Secondary - The sigtran link/association being configured will be associated with the secondary SG or remote SG Server.
Network Appearance
The Network Appearance value is assigned by the Signaling Gateway and identifies the Signaling Gateway SS7 node in a domain. If Signaling Gateway is within a single SS7 network, the network Appearance value is not needed. The Signaling Gateway uses the network appearance value along with the Routing Key to identify itself to other entities in the network. The Network Appearance value is normally an integer and is entered by clicking in the Network Appearance field and entering the value. The Network Appearance value is an unsigned number with values from 0-4,294,967,296.
Client/Server (Default: server)
When communicating between a Signaling Gateway Process and an Application Server Process, one entity must be configured as the server and the other entity as the client. Select from drop down menu either server or client.
server - The Signaling Gateway being configured will take on the role as the server.
client - The Signaling Gateway being configured will take on the role as the client.
Source Port (Default: 2905)
The Signaling Gateways port that is used for passing M3UA signaling information. To modify the Source Port, highlight the default source port and enter a new source port value.
Destination Port (Default: 2905)
The port number on the remote entity that will be used to pass SCTP information. To modify the Destination Port number, highlight the default destination port and enter a new destination port value.
Local IP 1
The IP address of the Local Signaling Gateway being configured. This field is a drop down menu displaying all network interfaces on the IMG 2020 configured to transmit and receive M3UA signaling.
Remote IP 1
Click in this field and a enter the IP address of the remote entity/interface that the sigtran link/association will be communicating with.
Local IP 2
If more than one interface is configured for M3UA signaling this field will have a drop menu displaying all Network Interface IP addresses configured. Select IP address of interface to be used.
Remote IP 2
Click in this field and enter the IP address of the remote entity/interface that the sigtran link/association will be communicating with.
SCTP Timers Field Descriptions
Retransmission Init (ms)
SCTP retransmission initial value used for the RTT calculations. This value is expressed in milliseconds.
Retransmission Min (ms)
SCTP retransmission minimum allowed value used for the RTT calculations. This value is expressed in milliseconds.
Retransmission Max (ms)
SCTP retransmission maximum allowed value used for the RTT calculations. This value is expressed in milliseconds.
T1 Init
SCTP T1 timer – Initial value. This timer is expressed in milliseconds.
T2 Init
SCTP T2 timer – Initial value. This timer is expressed in milliseconds.
Cookie Life Timer
SCTP cookie life timer. This timer is expressed in milliseconds.
Heartbeat Timer
Time between SCTP HEARTBEAT transmissions. This timer is expressed in milliseconds.
Init Retransmit
Maximum number of times the INIT chunk will be retransmitted.
Cookie Retransmit
Maximum number of times the COOKIE chunk will be retransmitted.
Shutdown Retransmit
Maximum number of times the SHUTDOWN chunk will be retransmitted.
Heartbeat Retransmit
Number of times the HEARTBEAT is lost before address becomes inactive.
Data Retransmit
Maximum number of times the DATA chunk will be retransmitted.
Monitoring Fields
Link Status
The Link Status field monitors and displays the status of the M3UA link in being configured. Information such as whether the link is in or out of service is displayed.
Button Functionality
Link In Service
This buttons brings the SS7 link in service.
Link Out Of Service
This buttons takes the SS7 link out of service.
