SS7 - Link Set

One or more Signaling Links between a Signaling Point (SP) or Signaling Transfer Point (STP) are identified as a Signaling Link Set. A Link Set provides a level of Redundancy and load sharing between two signaling nodes. The Signaling Link Set object identifies a link set that is used to connect an SS7 stack on the IMG 2020 to an adjacent point code (APC) in an SS7 network. The SS7 Link Set object is created under the SS7 Stack object.

Maximum Objects

Up to 128 Link Sets per IMG 2020 Node can be created. This is the maximum number of links that can be created on one IMG 2020 if one signaling link per signaling link set is configured.

Related Topics and Dependencies

The SS7 Signaling Link Set object is configured under the SS7 Stack. The (Adjacent Point Code) APC determines which entity such as a Signaling Point or Signaling Transfer Point to send the ISUP information to. Once the Link Set object is created, the SS7 Signaling Link can be configured under it.

When creating an SS7 network which includes stacks, links, link sets, routes, destinations, etc, the dependencies are too numerous to explain in this document. Please refer to the Configure SS7 topic for information on how to configure an SS7 network. Refer to the links below.

Field Descriptions

Link Set ID

The Link Set ID field specifies the ID of the SS7 link set. The ID's are automatically populated with the next available ID. The SS7 Link Set ID can be modified by selecting a different ID from the drop down menu. Link Set ID's range from 0-127.

APC (Adjacent Point Code)

The APC field specifies the adjacent point code of the node that this link set will be communicating with. The format of the APC will follow the same rules that the SS7 stack follows. For example if the OPC is ITU 97, which follows the format of 3-8-3, the APC should also be running ITU 97 and should follow the format of 3-8-3. Point codes are expressed in the dotted decimal format.

Comments

You can enter information about the Link Set such as location and type of SS7 far side (for example, New York STP).
