Installation and configuration for Windows Fax Service (Fax Role)

Installation and configuration for Windows Fax Service (Fax Role)

The following is a description of how to configure your Diva Media board when using Windows Fax Services. Please note that this is a general guide for a basic configuration to enable you to send and receive faxes. For a more detailed description of configuration and functionality of your Windows Fax Service itself, please consult the Microsoft documentation.

Installation of Diva Fax modem / modem pool

The Diva Media board uses virtual fax modems to interface with the Windows Fax Service. To ensure the virtual modem is correctly mapped to a virtual com port it is recommended to do the installation via the Diva Configuration Manager. To ease configuration the Diva Configuration Manager differentiates between single modems and modem pools.

A modem pool is a stack of modems (right-hand side icon) of the same type that all share the same settings.

Single modems are recommended for Windows fax inbound routing where a MSN / DID should be mapped to a Diva Fax Modem in order to route the fax to a specific email address. To route incoming calls based on the dialled MSN / DID number to a specific Diva Fax Modem follow this article after the Diva Fax Modem has been installed.

Insert a new modem or modem pool to the Active Configuration.

Open Diva Configuration Manager and click 'Insert' > 'Modem' or 'Modem Pool'.

The default modem type on active Diva Media boards (with on-board DSPs) is analog. This can be changed later-on, see below.

Create a binding between the new modem and the board.

Right-click on the modem icon and 'Select for Binding'.

Right-click on the board icon and 'Complete Binding'.
