Name Directory

The Name Directory is used for outside callers who do not know the extension of the person they are trying to reach, but they do know the person's first and/or last name.

By default, the Name Directory is accessed by outside callers when they press 9 from your Main menu.  It is entirely up to you to remove this keypress from the Main menu if you would prefer to disable the Name Directory function.

Adding the Name Directory Sequence

  1. Login to your Admin Panel at cp.fonality.com

  2. Click on AutoAnswer --> edit call menu

  3. In the bottom right-hand corner, select a key press digit (0-9, * or #)

  4. Now select the sequence Name-Directory

  5. Click Apply All Changes

When a caller dials your main telephone number and hears your Main menu greeting (if you configured one), they will have the chance to press a key to reach the Name Directory.

Recording your name for the directory

By default, the system will spell your first and last name for a caller.  This is impersonal, and Fonality recommends recording your voice (either each individual's voice, or have one person with a "radio voice" record everyone's name).

To record your name:

  1. Dial 8500 (from any phone)

  2. Enter the extension number for the person whose name you would like to record

  3. Enter the voicemail password for the extension

  4. Press 0

  5. Press 3 to record the name for the directory
