We’re excited to share the patch release of Sangoma Meet v5.8.4, featuring multiple transcription enhancements, UI updates, bug fixes, and stability improvements across web and mobile. This update brings more clarity, usability, and consistency to the in-meeting experience.

✨ New Enhancements

1. Transcription UI Improvements

We’ve made significant updates to the transcription experience, improving clarity, user control, and notifications:

• The CC Icon has been replaced with a new Transcription icon for better clarity.

• Participants can now hide or show Captions during meetings.

• Clear notifications when transcription is started or stopped.

2. Transcription Download Format Update

• Transcripts now download in .TXT format instead of .CSV for improved usability.

3. Improved Virtual Background Quality

• Enhanced the quality of virtual backgrounds in meetings by updating the background model, delivering a more polished video experience.

🐞 Bug Fixes & Stability Improvements

Meeting & UI Fixes

• Fixed issue where the transcription input box was partially hidden when viewing chat, transcript, or participants.

• Standardized the Copy Meeting Link button behavior across Web and Mobile pre-join screens.

• Resolved issue where meeting titles could exceed 50 characters.

• Corrected misleading banner messages shown when users deny microphone/video permissions

• Improved handling of meeting settings in local storage to ensure smoother updates and session behavior.

Mobile & App Fixes

• Fixed an issue where users couldn’t join a meeting from the mobile app due to incorrect password prompts.

• Resolved a bug where toggling Low Bandwidth Mode prevented participant videos from showing.

Device & Audio Fixes

• Fixed issue where the camera dropdown in Settings showed “Select a Device” with no options.

• Addressed problems switching microphones while in record mode.

• Fixed issue where recordings included background audio from muted participants.
