TOOLS-EXTENSIONFEATURES-SWITCHBOARD-LAYOUTS (6.7)
This article describes the Switchboard Layout tool, including the Switchvox 6.7 Quick Dial widget. For earlier versions of Switchvox, see TOOLS-EXTENSION-FEATURES-SwitchboardPanels, or see the Switchboard 6.0 Demo Video for more about using the 6.0 layout editor.
IMPORTANT: Switchboard Layouts in 5.X are not maintained after the 6.0 update. Before you update to 6.0, we recommend you review the existing Switchboards in your organization and create a plan for your new 6.0 Layouts. You may want everyone to take a screenshot of their own Switchboard so they can recreate their new Switchboard Layouts. Either way, creating the new Layouts should not take more than a few minutes.
Switchboard Layouts
The Switchboard Layout tool lets you create Switchboard Layouts from within the Switchboard application. The Switchvox Admin can assign one or more Layouts to a phone extension, so when a phone user opens his/her Switchboard, it can be used immediately. The Switchboard can include multiple Layouts for one user, so you can create Layouts for functional roles and different purposes within the same role. You can put any widget in a layout, and each widget will respect the permissions of the phone-user viewing it. When the widget is displayed on the phone-user’s Switchboard, that user’s permission must be set correctly to use all of the widget’s features.Â
To display the Switchboard Layout page from the /admin web interface, clickTools> ExtensionFeatures> SwitchboardLayouts.Â
Â
Â
Click theAdd Widgetdrop-down menu to review and select a new Widget to add to a Switchboard:
Â
The following predefined Widgets are available:
My Calls (displayed by default)
Â
From the selection boxes, indicate if you want the widget to list Calls, Call Logs, Voicemail, and/or Switch to Calls tab on new calls. Click the SAVE button when ready to add the widget.
Â
Parked Calls
Â
If the Administrator has defined a parking lot extension, the Parked Calls widget will display the "parked" calls.
Call Activity (displayed by default) was formerly called the Contacts & Tags Widget. The Settings let you include Groups, instead of Tags. (Your Switchvox administrator maintains the Groups.) Otherwise, the widget is the same as before. If you used a Tag in this widget prior to 6.6, after the update, all of the contacts in that Tag are still in your widget. They may be there as part of a Group, or as individual contacts.
Â
Fill in the Name of the Call Activity widget, then select the Groups or Internal Contacts to display. Click the SAVE button when ready to add the widget.
Queues. There are several Queue Widgets. Select the queue widget from the drop-down menu. Queue widgets respect the phone-user’s permissions for that queue.
My Queues. You must be a member of any queues you have permission for to display members in the widget.

Â
Wallboard
Â
The Wallboard includes a column that indicates the number of members who are logged in vs the total number of members (e.g., ⅗). Prior to 6.7, that box was yellow with a white border if all of the queue members were not logged in. In 6.7, that box is always the ‘normal’ state of the other boxes: black with grey border.
Â
Quick Dial. The new Quick Dial widget lets you transfer calls without going on hold, and also includes External Contacts.Â
Contacts
Â
Rapid Dial lets admins use a Rapid Dial List in a layout. If the phone user has defined his/her own Rapid Dial List, that list will be used when his or her opens Switchboard.Â
Switchboard Widgets. Switchboard Widgets let you add both standard and custom widgets to the Switchboard that let you exchange data with external web applications, then display the results. The widget refreshes each time a call comes in, showing caller-specific information. For each widget, you can specify which phone-type extensions are allowed to use it. If an extension isn’t allowed to use a widget, that widget isn’t included in the Switchboard’s list of widgets.
Standard: Google Maps.  This widget provides integration with Google Maps.
Default Zoom Level. Select the level of zoom to use. The Switchboard user can always zoom in or out.
Extensions allowed to use this widget. All of the extensions you put in the box are allowed to use this widget.
Test your connection. Enter a phone number to look up. Click Test Settings to see the results of your test.
