Turn On Virtual Memory

Within Express for Lync, the Microsoft Windows virtual memory is disabled by default. It is highly recommended that this be turned back on in order for help with general performance of the appliance. Follow the steps below in order to re-activate the virtual memory within the Hyper-V host. This only needs to be done within the Hyper-V host.

Activate Virtual Memory on the Lync Front End Server and Hyper-V Host

To setup the virtual memory within the Hyper-V host system, please follow the steps below:

  1. On the Windows Start Screen, right click on "Computer" and select "Properties".

  2. This will bring up the "System" window. Click on the "Advanced system settings" link on the right side of the window.

  3. Under the "Performance" section, click on "Settings".

  4. Click on the "Advanced" tab and the click on the "Change" button within the Virtual Memory section.

  5. When the Virtual Memory window pops up, click on the "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives". This will allow Windows to shrink or increase the paging file on demand. Click OK to accept the changes.

Once all these steps are done, reboot your appliance and once the appliance starts up windows, it will launch with Virtual Memory enabled.
