XactView V3-Extension Groups

Any user can create Extension Groups, which is basically a way of grouping together extensions. You can then set up a widget to only see those extensions. For example you may want to create Support and Sales groups. By Default the system has an "everyone" group already. Then you can add the Users widget 3 times into XactView and select which grouping of extensions you want to see in each user widget.

Creating a New User Group

  • Click on your username in the upper right hand corner of the page and more options will drop down. From here you can pick "Extensions Groups".

  • On the left side you can see any groups that you already have created or that another user has created and shared with you.

  • Pressing the "+" button will let you create a new group.

  • You can give your new group a name, something like "Sales".

  • Now you can start adding users. You can start typing in a name and options will appear for you to choose from. In our example we are picking "Preston McNair".

  • The system will then add all of Preston McNair's extensions that may be associated with his user as defined in the User Management module for Preston.

  • Press the "Save" button when you're finished.

  • You can now see the Sales group has been added.

  • Now when adding a User widget we can pick this new Extension Group and only those Extensions will be shown in that widget as outlined here.

Sharing an Extension Group with Other Users

  • You can also take your Extension group and share it with other users so they can use it too. Click on the "Permissions" button in a User group.

  • Start typing in a user you want to share this group with.

  • Once added you can decide on the level of permissions they get.

    • Display- The user can see the Extension group, but can not edit the group or add users.

    • Manage- The user can edit and manage the group the same way you can as the creator.

  • Press "Ok" when done to save your changes.
