Switchvox SMB 5.8.3 Release Notes
Issues Resolved
For phone extensions, all control of voicemail greetings has been moved back into the web suite's Voicemail Options area. (In version 5.8, the call rules Send to Voicemail action controlled voicemail greetings in some situations.)Â
This change makes it easy to set a newly created recorded greeting as the default greeting, whether you use the web suite or the voicemail access extension (usually 899) to record the greeting.
In the web suite's Voicemail / Fax > Voicemail Options page, on the Greeting Rules tab, these rules now control which greetings play (and under what circumstances):
You can change the Default Rule any time you create a recorded greeting: in the web suite, or using the voicemail access extension.
You can create and use a custom Greeting Rule to play specific greetings based on a Time Frame and/or your Status. It's important to know that these rules can only be controlled from the web suite's Greeting Rules page. So, you must be able to reach the web suite to make changes.Â
Important if updating from 5.8, 5.8.1, or 5.8.2
If you used the call rules Send to Voicemail action to specify what greetings should play based on Time Frame or Status, you will need to re-create that behavior under the Greeting Rules. And, we recommend that you review the greetings specified in your Default Greeting Rule.Â
Important if updating from 5.7.3 and earlier
We recommend that you review the greetings specified in your Default Greeting Rule.Â
Important for all versions
The Busy Greeting that is set in Greeting Rules is always played when your extension is busy (e.g., on the phone, or have a call on hold). For example, if you are busy and a coworker transfers a call to your voicemail, or you press Send VM on an incoming call on your Digium Phone. In versions prior to 5.8.3, the busy greeting only played if you were busy and the caller arrived at your voicemail through any call rules' Send to Voicemail action. Â
