Digium SIP Trunking Training
SIP trunking is a service Digium makes available to customers who want to use Digium as VOIP Provider. Note: SIP Trunking service allows customers to place calls to the PSTN (public switched telephone network) but does not give them DID (Direct Inward Dialing). DID can be included as an add-on to the SIP trunking service because customers either can purchase the number from Digium or they can port their own number.Â

As an analogy, you can think of Digium SIP trunking Service as similar to Skype Credits. You can purchase Skype Credits and you are allowed to place calls to the PSTN, but you don't have a number in which people can place calls. Such a number needs to be purchased separately.
General Troubleshooting Guidelines
Customers using Digium SIP trunking service deal primarily with the following Digium departments:
Sales, which is responsible for the on-boarding process, including order fufillment and status, gathering information about phone numbers that are going to be ported or phone numbers that are going to be assigned to the SIP trunking line. After Sales completes and places the order, it is sent to the DCS Team (Atlanta) for the spin up (configuration).Â
DCS Team (Atlanta), which is responsible for the VOIP systems (servers and local network) as well as the initial account configuration. They are also in charge of following up on the number porting process and providing feedback to customers.Â
Tech Support, which is responsible for configuration and troubleshooting assistance.The goal is to assess the situation and determine where the problem is located (either at the customer premises or provider level). If the problem is located at the provider level, Tech Support works with the DCS Team (Atlanta) for solution. Â
