Overview

  • Expand from 2 to 24 ports in mixed TE and NT modes, as required. Changing modes requires no jumpers — simply invert the colour-coded module

  • Single synchronous PCI and PCI Express interface for all 24 BRI interfaces

  • The A500 consists of a Remora™ BRI daughterboard mounted on the AFT PCI card. The Remora™ BRI card has three sockets, each of which can accept an S/T BRI module

  • One S/T BRI module has two S/T four wire interfaces, which support TE or NT modes of operation

  • Up to three additional Remora™ daughterboards can be mounted in empty slot positions beside the A500 assembly. These are connected to the A500 by a special backplane bus connector

  • Supports Asterisk®, FreeSwitchâ„¢as well as other Open Source and proprietary PBX, Switch, IVR, and VoIP gateway applications

  • uses Wanpipe Driver which includes a suite of configuration, operation and debugging utilities

Faceplate

Sangoma Telephony cards ship pre-installed with 1 U faceplate, along with a 2 U faceplate as an accessory.

If you have a 2 U server, the 1 U faceplate will need to be removed to install the 2 U faceplate.
If this is your case, please view the following Demo which indicates which screws to remove and how to separate the card

Note: If you are using Additional remora then you need to connect internal 12V power connector with main A500 board.

A500 BRI Termination resistors to switch between NT and TE modes

The A500 comes with termination resistors that have to be disabled (set to OFF) when running in TE mode and enabled (set to ON) when running in NT mode.

The resistors corresponding ports 1 and 2 are closest to the PCI base.
The ON position is closer to the NT/TE modules.
The OFF position is closer to the RJ-45 connectors.

How to Connection PSTN lines to A500:

Telephony card installation is very simple:

  1. Power off server and remove cover to access the PCI/PCIexpress slots

  2. Identify the PCI/PCIexpress slot to be used for your telephony card

  3. Remove the backplate for that slot, from the server.

    1. This backplate may require a screwdriver to remove screws before pulling off the backplate. Use your discretion

  4. Insert the telephony card into the PCI/PCIexpress slot and verify it is firmly seated

  5. With the faceplate lines up with the mounting bracket, screw it firmware in place.

    1. verify the E1/T1 ports are lined up and fully accessible from the back of the server before securing position

  6. Plug in your E1/T1 cables into the telephony card

    1. if you are unsure of the pinouts, see below for details

  7. Place server cover back on and power on
