DS-1 Spans

The DS-1 Spans object can be created in two places. First, it can be created under the Facility object. When created under the Facility object, the Starting Offset is 0 and the Ending Offset is 3. The DS-1 Spans object was created for the four T1/E1 RJ48 interfaces located on the rear of the IMG 2020. The second place the DS-1 Spans object can be created is under the DS-3 Interface object. The DS-1 Spans object can be used to create a group of T1 or E1 DS-1's under each DS-3 interface.
On the rear of the IMG 2020 there are three sets of bnc connectors so three DS-3 Interface objects can be configured. Each DS-3 interface supports configuring a group of DS-1 Spans through the DS-1 object. The table below displays the number of spans supported per T1/E1 RJ48 and DS-3 interface.

The first four logical span numbers (0-3) are reserved for the T1/E1 interfaces on the four RJ48 connectors on the rear of the IMG 2020.

Maximum Objects
One DS-1 Spans object can be created per DS-3 Interface. Verify there is licensing for all spans being created. The total number of DS-0's that can get configured on the IMG 2020 is 2016. Using DS-1's/DS-0's from the T1/E1 RJ48 interfaces reduces the number of DS-1's/DS-0's that can be configured on the DS-3 Interfaces. For example: If configuring four E1 DS-1's from the T1/E1 Interfaces on rear of IMG 2020, the maximum number of DS-3 Spans that can get created is 2016 Channels - 128 Channels = 1888 DS-0's which is 78 DS-3 Spans.

Before configuring the DS-1 Spans object, a T1 or E1 Profile object must be configured. The Profile created will then be in the drop down menu of the Profile Name field of the DS-1 Spans object. Select the Profile to be associated with the span being created.
Field Descriptions
Starting Offset
Select from the drop down menu which DS-1 will be the starting offset in the DS-3 Interface.
Ending Offset
Select from the drop down menu which DS-1 will be the ending offset in the DS-3 Interface.
Profile Name
Within the Profile Name field is a drop down menu that will display all the profiles created under the TDM Profiles object. Select the profile that will be linked to the range of DS-1's that are displayed in the Starting and Ending Offset field. When linking the profile to the DS-1 spans, a different profile can be linked to each DS-1 or one profile can be linked to multiple DS-1's. Refer to the DS-1 Profile Wizard for more information on configuring a profile to a DS-1.
T1/E1 Profile - All the TDM profiles created are added to this drop down menu. Select from the drop down menu which profile will be used.
Not Used - Do not use the DS-1's within this object. The object will not be utilized.
