Route List
Â
A Route list is a list of channel groups that the router in the IMG 2020 can select from to route a call. The goal of the route list is to route calls in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. The Route List object is created under the Route Lists object. To create the Route List object, right click on the Route Lists object and select New Route List. Once the Route List object has been created, a list of pre-configured channel groups to route to are configured under it. Each Route List allows the user the ability to add up to 20 channel groups under it. The channel groups that are assigned to a route list provide alternate routes to a call destination. If the channels in one channel group are unavailable, the router will attempt to select a channel from the remaining channel groups within the list. Based on the hunting option configured in the Route List, the router in the IMG 2020 searches the channel groups in the list and selects an individual channel. Refer to the information below.

Maximum Objects
Up to 254 Route List objects can be created under each Route Lists object and up to 20 channel groups can be configured under each Route List object.
Related Topics and Dependencies
The Route List object is created under the Route Lists object. Under the Route List object, up to twenty channel groups can be configured (The channel groups must have previously been configured). Once the Route List object is configured, it can used to route calls. Routing a call using the Route List is achieved by selecting Route List from the Route Action Type field of the Route Table Entry object. Once the Route Action Type field in the Route Table Entry object is set to Route List, the IMG 2020 will try and route the call by examining each Route List created, and then working its way down through the multiple Route List objects until it finds a matching attribute to route on.
Field Descriptions
Name
Click in the Name field and enter a name that describes the Route List being created. Once the Route List object is committed, it cannot be modified. To modify, the object needs to be deleted and then re-added.
Hunting Options
The method or hunting algorithm that the IMG 2020 will use to select the next channel group in the Route List is determined by the hunting options field. Select from the drop down menu which method will be used. The following hunting options are available:
Sequential - For each call, the internal router searches for a channel group based on the sequence of the channel groups in the route list. With this option the router always begins its search with the first channel group in the route list.
Round Robin - The internal router selects the first free channel group that follows the channel group that it selected for the previous call. With this option, the router maintains a pointer to the last used channel group and begins each new search at the next channel group within the route list.
LRU (Least Recently Used) - The internal router selects the least recently used channel group; that is, the group that has been idle for the longest period of time.
Percent - Used when configuring a route list to send calls to more than one outgoing channel group using the percentage basis method. For example, the IMG 2020 could be configured to send 50% of calls to Channel Group 1 and 50% of calls to Channel Group 2. See Route List Percentage Based Routing for more information.
Re-Route based on Cause Codes
The Re-Route based on Cause Codes field allows the IMG 2020 to stop accessing the channel groups in the Route List if one of the channel group destinations sends back a cause code rejecting the call (Re-routing Cause Codes Displayed Below). The feature is configurable by selecting either Enabled or Disabled from a drop down menu in the Route List Pane.
Enabled (Default) -When Enabled is selected, the IMG 2020 will re-route calls, when the initial route fails, using to the next channel group in the route list. This is regardless of why the route failed.
Disabled - When Disabled is selected, the IMG 2020 will stop trying to route calls from the current Route List if one of the Cause Codes displayed below is received from a far end channel group destination. The router will not go to the next channel group within the route list, nor will it move to the next Route List.
Re-routing Cause Codes
NO CIRCUIT AVAILABLE - Cause Code 34
TEMPORARY FAILURE - Cause Code 41
EXCHANGE CONGESTION - Cause Code 42 Â
Calls can be rerouted on up to (4) additional cause codes. This is accomplished by clicking in the Reattempt Cause Code field which is located in the Channel Group object. A Select Multiple Items box will appear with multiple Cause Codes to select from. More than one Cause Code can be chosen by selecting <CTRL> key and clicking on multiple entries. The IMG 2020 will automatically attempt to re-route calls in response to the selected cause codes.
Percentage
When Percent is selected in the Hunting Options field above, routing to individual channel groups based on a percentage basis is being employed. As the Route List Entries are created under the Route List object, the channel groups that are added under the Route List Entry object are then added to the Percentage Field. Referring to the screen capture below, three channel group were created and each will receive a different percentage of the calls.
The Percentage Sum box adds all the percentage of each channel group in the list and displays a total. For example, ChGrp3_SIP will have 29% of the calls sent to it, ChGrp5_SIP will have 39% of the calls sent to it and ChGrp1_SS7 will have 32% of the calls sent to it. In this case, the Percentage Sum would be 100% as displayed. The percent feature needs to have 100% of the calls allocated or the Route List configuration will not be sent to the IMG 2020. The Percentage Sum field aids in the configuration process. It displays the total percentage allocated so the user can decide what percentage needs to be allocated. For information on how the functionality within this field works, refer to the Route List Percentage Based Routing topic.
The Channel Groups being added to the Route List for the purpose of percentage routing cannot be added while the Hunting Options field is set to Percent. To initially add the channel groups, the Hunting Options field must first be set to Sequential. Once all the channel groups have been added, the Hunting Options field can be changed to Percent. Once this is done, each channel group in the list can have a percentage value added to it.
Buttons
Delete All Route List Elements - The Delete All Route List Elements button can be used to clean up a configuration. The Delete All Route List Elements button will delete all the Route List Elements configured under the Route Table that are not being utilized someplace else.
