Manually Configuring a Sangoma DECT Phone with Switchvox

If you are running Switchvox Version 7.3 or later, you can use the Sangoma Portal to configure your DECT phones. For details, see Configuring the DECT wireless handset with Switchvox 7.3 or later.

Before staring the configuration please make sure that you have the following information at hand (NOTE: all IPs and IPEI is just an example and will be unique for your setup):

  • IP of Switchvox (example: 10.24.8.102)

  • IP of DB20 DECT Base Station (example: 10.24.46.218) - NOTE: You must login to your network equipment that handles DHCP and look up the IP Address of the Base Station by it's Mac Address. There should be a label with the MAC address on the bottom of the base. If you do not know how to login to your router, please contact your IT person for assistance with that step.

  • IPEI (International Portable Equipment Identity) Key of DECT Phones

  • Make note of the IPEI for each DECT phone.  This is found under the battery of the phone or from the phone’s display.

(Settings > Status > scroll to down to find IPEI) (ex: 02EB6C6245)

Please NOTE: Sangoma base stations don’t have the multi cell feature, this means that handsets registered to one base station won’t work on another base station.

Creating Switchvox Extensions

  1. Browse to Switchvox (https//”ip_of_sv”/admin)

  2. Login to Switchvox, default username/password (admin/admin)

  3. Create extensions in Switchvox and manually set the Phone_Password. (Setup > Manage > Create Extension > SIP Phone > Phone Settings > Common
    Settings > Phone Password)

Note: This will be used to register the DECT phone extensions to Switchvox.
