Switchvox - How do I use Switchvox for Outlook in Office 365?

This Add-in lets you dial an Outlook contact’s phone number using your Switchvox phone. It also notifies you of incoming calls with a popup from the task tray.

Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows 10

  • The downloaded version of Outlook within Office 365 (this cannot be used for Outlook in a web browser)

  • Switchvox version 6.7.1.2 or later

NOTE: If running older Microsoft software, see How do I Use Switchvox for Outlook?

Getting Started

Download the installer from here and double-click on the .exe, which will install the add-in.

In the downloaded version of Outlook, do the following to configure the add-in:

  1. Click File, then Options, then Add-ins. You should see "Switchvox Outlook Add-in" in the list.

  2. Click Add-in Options for the Switchvox item.

  3. Enter your Switchvox server (e.g., switchvox.mybiz.com), extension, and password.

  4. Click OK.

The Switchvox Outlook Add-in should now be available in your task tray; click to see that you are logged in.

Dialing in Outlook

You can use right-click to dial from the contacts list. You can also dial from an Outlook contact card:

  • Right-click the contact card.

  • Select the option to Call Contact with Switchvox.

  • Mouse over the Call Contact with the Switchvox option to view the contact’s phone numbers.

  • Click the number you want to dial.

Incoming Calls

Incoming calls to your extension cause a popup box from the Switchvox icon in your task tray. The Add-in attempts to find the caller in your Outlook Contacts, and if a contact exists, the popup displays the caller information from your Contact.

If you have an Outlook Contact for an incoming call, you can click in the popup to open that Contact in Outlook.
