If you are connecting the card to a smart jack (incoming line from Telco), then you need a straight T1/E1 Cable, which is identical to a straight Ethernet cable.Â
Â
T1/E1 cross-over cable
Â
If you are doing a back-to-back configuration, or connecting the card to another PBX or channel bank, then you need a cross-T1/E1 cable with the following pin-outs:Â
1 <-> 4
2 <-> 5
4 <-> 1
5 <-> 2

How to Connect Lines to the A500
Â
 Â
Â
T116 Connector Pinouts
The T116 has 4 ports per physical ports on the card. This diagram shows how ports 1-4 are in the first physical port, ports 5-8 on the second physical port and so on.
Â
As shown in the diagram above, the T116 has 16 ports which are placed within only 4 Physical ports. This can be achieved because each port only needs to receive data, therefore only a RxRing and RxTip is required for each port. The TxRing and TxTip are not needed since the card will not be transmitting any data. The pinout for each physical port is shown below:
Pin | Physical Port 1 | Physical Port 2 | Physical Port 3 | Physical Port 4 |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | RxRing - Port 1 | RxRing - Port 5 | RxRing - Port 9 | RxRing - Port 13 |
2 | RxTip - Port 1 | RxTip - Port 5 | RxTip - Port 9 | RxTip - Port 13 |
3 | RxRing - Port 3 | RxRing - Port 7 | RxRing - Port 11 | RxRing - Port 15 |
4 | RxRing - Port 2 | RxRing - Port 6 | RxRing - Port 10 | RxRing - Port 14 |
5 | RxTip - Port 2 | RxTip - Port 6 | RxTip - Port 10 | RxTip - Port 14 |
6 | RxTip - Port 3 | RxTip - Port 7 | RxTip - Port 11 | RxTip - Port 15 |
7 | RxRing - Port 4 | RxRing - Port 8 | RxRing - Port 12 | RxRing - Port 16 |
8 | RxTip - Port 4 | RxTip - Port 8 | RxTip - Port 12 | RxTip - Port 16 |
