Windows 10 - Edge Browser & HUD Compatibility

Windows 10 has been released to the general public and Microsoft has made their new browser, Edge the default browser. After testing, here is what we know about HUD compatibility and Windows 10/Edge.

  1. HUD Web works as designed on Windows 10 running Firefox, Chrome and IE 11.

  2. Most of HUD Web works well on the new Edge browser; the Soft Phone and Desktop Alerts do not work

  3. Windows Edge browser does not support NPAPI nor does it allow installation of plugins; therefor no soft phone or desktop alerts

  4. Edge is listed as a Beta product by Microsoft

  5. We are working on alternatives for a soft phone option on Edge (and watching it's development)

  6. HUD Classic works as designed on Windows 10

Fonality is not officially supporting the Edge browser until it is considered a full version by Microsoft and out of beta. Our development team will continue to work on a soft phone and desktop alerts for Edge.

DEFAULT BROWSER

When you upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or 8 it makes Edge your default browser (unless during upgrade you changed defaults). If you prefer using an alternative browser here are links to instructions on how to restore your preferred default.
