How do I Use Switchvox for Outlook?
IMPORTANT: if you are running Microsoft Windows 10 and using Office 365, see How do I use Switchvox for Outlook in Office 365? to download that Add-In.
If you are running older Microsoft software, this Switchvox for Outlook AddÂIn is available. It was built and tested to work on the desktop version of Office 2010, running on Windows 7, and requires Switchvox version 6.x. If after installing the Addin you cannot log into Switchvox, you need to Enable TLS 1.1 and 1.2 in Outlook.
The AddIn makes it possible to dial an Outlook contact’s phone number using your Switchvox phone. It also notifies you of incoming calls with a popup from the task tray.
Getting Started
Download the Switchvox Outlook Add in from Sangoma by right clicking the link and choosing "Save Link As..."
DoubleÂ-click to install the AddÂIn on the computer where you use Outlook.
Open Outlook on that computer.
Go to File | Options and click Add-Ins.
Click on the Switchvox Outlook Add-In to highlight it.
Click the Add-in Options button.
Fill in the address to your Switchvox, and your own extension number and login password.
The Switchvox Outlook AddÂin is available in your task tray; click to see that you are logged in.
Dialing
You can dial phone numbers from a contact card, or the contacts list.
RightÂ-click the contact card.
Select option to Call Contact with Switchvox.
Mouse over the Call Contact with Switchvox option to view the contact’s phone numbers.
Click the number you want to dial.
You can also rightÂ-click to dial from the contacts list
Incoming Calls
Incoming calls to your extension cause a popup box from the Switchvox icon in the task tray. The AddÂIn attempts to find the caller in your Outlook Contacts, and if a contact exists, the popup displays the caller information from your Contact.
If you have an Outlook Contact for an incoming call, you can click in the popup to open that Contact in Outlook.
