Technical Notes:
When configuring an SS7 Stack, the following happens:
The SS7 stack is configured on the physical IMG. A point code will be configured and a stack ID will be assigned to it.

Field Descriptions:
Stack ID (10.3.3)
This field specifies the ID of the stack. Under each Physical IMG ClientView supports configuring 4 stacks. The stack ID's can be set from 0 – 3. See "An Overview of SS7 Signaling" in related Topics above for more information
Stack ID (10.5.0)
This field specifies the ID of the stack. ClientView supports configuring a maximum of 16 stacks. Under each Physical IMG object ClientView supports configuring a maximum of four stacks. See "An Overview of SS7 Signaling" in related Topics above for more information.
SS7 Variant:
This field specifies the variant used for the stack.
Select from drop down menu either Use Base Variant or if there are any custom SS7 variants configured, they will be displayed in the drop down menu to select from. If using an SS7 Variant the ISUP field will automatically get populated with what was configured in the custom variant.

Once a custom variant is assigned to a stack, you cannot modify or delete an existing entry in the variant. You can add new entries, however.
ISUP:
If Base Only is selected in the SS7 Variant field above, you will be able to select from drop down menu the ISUP variant. Variants shown in table below. If a custom variant is created, this field will default to the ISUP variant configured in the custom variant.

OPC:
This field specifies the originating point code value of stack. Point codes can be expressed in dotted decimal or decimal format. See Point Code Format in table above.
MTP Pause:
This field determines whether resuming traffic to a paused DPC will be immediate or delayed.

Cause Location:
The value populated in the Location parameter in the Cause IE when a call is released.
User (default)- Message Generated by User
Private Network- Message generated by private network serving the local user
Local public network- Message generated by public network serving the local user
Transit network- Message generated by transit network
Remote public network- Message generated by public network serving the remote user
Remote private network- Message generated by private network serving the remote user
International network- Message generated by international network
Network Beyond Interworking Point- Message generated by network beyond inter-working point.
Exchange Type:
Type A- The IMG does not send any messages at start-up, but responds to a GRS with a GRA, or an RSC with an RLC.
Type B (Default)- The IMG sends a GRS/RSC at start-up. The IMG waits for a remote GRA/RLC before bringing the CICs in service.
When Type A is configured, CIC Service Rule in ISUP Group is required to set to No Action.
Message Compatibility Pass On:
This field specifies whether or not to pass unrecognized messages when they are received.

Network Indicator:
The network indicator displayed in MTP (Level 3) indicates the type of message (National/International). This field specifies whether the network indicator of ISUP messages sent is set to national or international.
National (Default)- Used for ANSI ISUP Variants.
International- Used for non-ANSI ISUP Variants.

Suppress UCIC's:
Enabled- Â Default if the Network Indicator is set to International.
Disabled- Default if the Network Indicator is set to National.
Default- Â When upgrading from a pre-10.3.2 ER5 release, this field will be set to the default for the Network Indicator configured.
CFN Status:
Enabled (Default)- IMG will respond to an unknown message with CFN (Confusion Message).
Disabled- IMG will not respond to an unknown message with CFN (Confusion Message).
Japanese MTP Variant:
When configuring Japan ISUP, this field selects the appropriate configuration for MTP depending on the variant you are using.
JT- Supports Japan Telecom
TTC- Supports Nippon Telegraph and Telephone of Japan
A/B Plane Bit Insertion and Validation:

SCCP:
SCCP is the transport layer and routing mechanism for TCAP messages. You must enable SCCP on the SS7 stack if TCAP messaging is to be used. Select from drop down menu one of the following selections.
Disabled (Default)- SCCP Protocol is disabled in the SS7 stack.
ANSI - Enable SCCP Protocol for use with ANSI standards
ITU - Enable SCCP Protocol for use with ITU standards
TCAP:
Disabled (Default)- TCAP Protocol is disabled in the SS7 stack.
ANSI - Enable TCAP Protocol for use with ANSI standards
ITU - Enable TCAP Protocol for use with ITU standards
M3UA Service Mode:
Disabled (Default) - M3UA signaling is disabled. Stacks configured with this field 'disabled' cannot be used in M3UA configuration
Signaling Gateway (SG) Mode - The stack being created will have M3UA Service set to Signaling Gateway mode. Signaling Gateway mode can be configured on up to (4) stacks total per Logical IMG Group. See IMG 1010 - Overview of Sigtran M3UA. When the Signaling Gateway Mode is selected, either SCCP, TCAP, or both will need to be configured from the SCCP and TCAP fields explained above.
Application Server (AS) Mode - The stack being created will have M3UA Service set to Application Server mode. Application Server mode can be configured on up to (4) stacks total per Logical IMG Group. See IMG 1010 - Overview of Sigtran M3UA. When the Application Server Mode is selected, either SCCP, TCAP, or both will need to be configured from the SCCP and TCAP fields explained above.
Additional JTISUP Information:
The IMG supports JT-ISUP, the SS7 standard for Japan (JT-Q.763). Select this variant in the ISUP field of the SS7 Stack pane. If JT-ISUP is selected, the Japanese MTP Variant  -and- A/B Plane Bit Insertion and Validation fields must be configured accordingly.
