Linked Servers (CP version 5.x)

Web Panel 5.0 includes a major overhaul to the linked server funcionality and administration of our premise based servers.

These changes and improvements are outlined below.

Networks

Linked servers are now grouped into "Networks".

All servers on the customer account that have linking capabilities are displayed as usual, but with the added ability to view all servers which are part of a network, whether or not the server that you are logged into is part of the network.

See the following example, where you can see linked servers that are not part of the current server's network:

Bullet Points Regarding Linked Server Networks

  • Each server can be a member of only one network at a time.

  • There is no current limit to the number of networks that can be created on a particular customer's account.

  • All servers on each network are linked together.  So if you add a server to Network 1 on server 3025, it will see 3025 and 2575.  At the same time, Server 2575 will see 3025 and the new server, and 3025 will see 2575 and the new server.

  • Each server still requires unique extension ranges to ensure that each location is able to properly reach the extensions on the other servers.
