Attended transfer - how to
Two-way attended transfer
While on a call:
Press the "TRNSFER" softkey on the display of the phone.
Dial the outside telephone number (9+areacode...) or extension of the person you wish to reach.
Wait for them to answer, and then talk with them. Your original call is still on hold at this point.
Press the "TRNSFER" softkey a *second* time to complete the transfer to them.
Your phone is now hung up and idle, and your caller is speaking to the person whom you transferred them to.
Â
Three-way attended transfer
POLYCOMÂ ONLY
The phone initiating the three-way attended transfer must be a Polycom.Â
This has not been officially announced as a supported feature at the time of this writing (2/29/2012), but it has been observed to work for the vast majority of Fonality servers.
Â
Method 1 - start a conference call and then drop off.
While on a call:
Press the "CONF"Â softkey or button on the phone.
Dial the outside telephone number or extension of the person you wish to join in.
Wait for them to answer, explain you have another person on hold, and ask if you may join them in to the call.
Press the "CONF" softkey or button a second time.
You're now all three on the call, and can all talk and hear each other.
When you hang up, the other two parties remain on the call.
Â
Method 2 - join two separate calls together.
While on a call:
You may have to put your current call on hold first - find a hold button on the phone keypad or hold softkey on the phone display.
Start a new call. There should be a "New Call" softkey on the phone display.
Dial the outside number or internal extension that you wish to involve in the transfer.
Wait for them to answer.
Press the "MORE"Â softkey on the display of the phone.
Press the "JOIN" softkey on the display.
You're now all three on the call.
You can hang up, and the other two parties will still remain on the call.
Â
Caveat:
As of this writing (2/29/2012) people will still see you on HUD talking with the other caller(s) as long as the other two people are on the call, even though your phone is idle (tested in HUD version 3.5.0.005088). This may be changed in a future update.
Â
Three-way attended transfer involving HUD
This requires a few button presses on the Polycom phone, but you can use HUD to do the dialing.
Â
While on a call:
Use the /phone/ to place your current call on hold first.
Type a phone number into the call box on HUD, or double-click on an extension. Most phones will pick up automatically when initiating a call with HUD.
Press the "MORE"Â softkey on the display of the phone.
Press the "JOIN" softkey on the display.
You're now all three on the call.
You can hang up (using the phone), and the other two parties will still remain on the call.
