How to collect a debug capture on the gateway

To obtain debugging information from a Digium Gateway appliance follow the instructions below.

Connect to your Digium gateway admin GUI via web browser:

  • In your browser URL bar, enter: https://IP_of_Gateway/admin

  • This will bring up the admin login page for the Gateway appliance. Enter the username and password, by default these are both set to admin.

On the top menu bar, navigate to "Diagnostics > Advanced Debugging"

Click "Start Debugging Session tab  > set Debug Level to 10. For PRI Debug > select Intense > Start Debugging Session (bottom of page). All Debugs should  be set to Yes (SIP, DTMF and PRI Debugs). All other settings can be left at the Default.Digital PRI Gateway:Analog Gateway:Make sure to set the debug level to 10 and RTP debug to yes. All other settings can be left at defaults.

  1. Click "Start Debugging Session".  The new debugging session should now appear in the list of Debug Logs, and the new session should be listed as "In Progress"

  2. Next, place your test calls.  Be sure to identify the number that is calling, the number that is called, and the approximate time in the capture the call is made in any communication with Support.

  3. Once the test calls are complete, click "Stop Session" for the new debugging log (under "Debugging Sessions in Progress") After "Stop Session" has been selected there will be a brief delay before the file is available for download.

  4. Click "Download" on the completed capture to download it to your workstation.  Attach this capture in an email to Digium Technical Support, or you can attach it directly to the support case through the customer portal at http://digium.com

Additional Notes

Under "Start Debugging Session" tab, you can customize several parameters of the debug capture, such as TCP Traffic, Gateway Log and System Log, it's not recommended to make any changes to these parameters besides length unless instructed by our Digium Support Team.

Also, Our Gateway appliances have a limited amount of memory. For safety purposes any capture that approach the limit of memory will be stopped before the length of time that was set. For longer debugging captures it's recommended to use syslog in conjunction with the Gateway remote logging capabilities.
