How do I configure my analog lines with Switchvox?
Hardware
The most widely used analog interface cards are the Digium TDM400Ps equipped with an FXO module for each line that will be used. Only certified hardware will work with the Switchvox system. If you did not buy your card from us, or are unsure if it is compatible, please contact Switchvox support.
Â
Installing your TDM card
First make sure you machine is completely shutdown and the power cord is removed from the machine's power supply.
Make sure the modules are securely in place
Install necessary card(s) and line(s) to your PBX machine
Start up your PBX
Â
Configure the Card
Once your webadmin is loaded, login to the Switchvox admin section (https://your.pbx.ip/admin) and go to System Setup --> Hardware Setup. You should see your newly added hardware listed.
Â
Configure the Channels
The next step is to configure the channels for your analog lines. Go to System Setup->Channel Admin. Click the button to Create a new channel group.
Group Name: In this example we set it as "Analog Lines". It can be set to your preference.
Device Type needs to be set to:Â FXO (Foreign Exchange Office) with Kewlstart Signalling
Callback Extension: We chose 800 for this example. This will be the default extension that is dialed whenever an incoming call is received over any channel included in this group.
Â
Selecting the Channels:
The last step is to select the channels that you want to include in this group. In this example, channels 3 and 4 will be selected since an analog line will be plugged into ports 3 and 4 of the analog card. On selected channels, you have the option to enter a phone number. It is not always necessary but it is a good way to label your channels. It is also needed if you plan to set up specific incoming call routes where calls over a specific line will go to an extension that differs from the callback extension.
Click Save Channel Group Settings to complete the process. Incoming calls that come in over your analog lines should now reach the callback extension. If you'd like to use the lines for your outgoing calls, proceed to System Setup->Outgoing Calls. You will now be able to choose your analog channel group for your call rules to use.
