FaxLync FAQ

NetFortris Fax

Q: What is FaxLync?

A: FaxLync is a product that allows you to continue to use your regular fax machine without needing to keep a dedicated analog line.

Q: I've heard bad things about faxing over SIP, how is this different?

A: FaxLync is a store and forward device and not faxing over SIP.  The outgoing fax is converted locally on the device to a digital format and transmitted over HTTPS to the recipient.

Q: What about T.38?

A: T.38 is not necessary in the case of the FaxLync, since the fax is transmitted as data traffic you won't run into the same reliability issues you do with faxing over SIP and T.38.

Q: How is this different from other companies' offerings?

A: Most of the time, they are providing you with a traditional ATA device which transmits the fax real time over SIP.  This often causes reliability issues, especially with internet connections suffering from higher than normal latency and jitter.

Q: What if the power goes out?

A: If the device has already received the document, the transmission will resume once the power is restored.

Q: What if there is a problem with my internet connection?

A: Faxes are stored until the connection is restored.  The added benefit to a store and forward device is the ability to retry the fax if a failure occurs.
