Updating to Switchvox 7.8.3

This article describes Switchvox version 7.8.3 (102529).

This version requires version 7.0 (94939). See the article Updating to Switchvox 7.0  for instructions on migrating to version 7.0.  Please note that users may need to clear their web browser cache after the update, so any changes from your prior version are displayed correctly.

New Features and Enhancements

Emergency Calling

  • Phone Locations moved from the Setup menu to the Tools menu. 

  • A SIP Phone extension can now be assigned

    • a Phone Location

    • an 'additional information' text string that describes how to find this phone/person. For example, Floor 3 office 302. This information is included in the Alerts Email that can be sent to the email addresses defined in the Alerts Manager.

  • The Desktop Softphone app (version 3.1.0) can modify the Phone Location and additional information, for the event the user is on a laptop and moving to a different location within the organization. For details about version 3.1.0, see Desktop Softphone Release Notes.

In the event that a SIP extension has a Location and additional information, but the desk phone being used has a different Location and additional information under Hot Desking,the Location information for the desk phone is used. This is because a physical desk phone is more likely to have the correct physical location.

Chat & SMS Can be Disabled

If Chat & SMS are disabled, the Desktop Softphone and Switchvox Chat Mobile apps do not include the Chat and SMS features for any user. This can be disabled/enabled in the admin suite, underSetup > Settings.
This requires version 3.1.0 of the Desktop Softphone for Windows and macOS, and 2.2.0 of Switchvox Chat for iOS and Android. See also: Using the Switchvox Apps.

Enhancements

  • Multicast Addresses now have a new option to not play the audio if the extension is already on a call.

  • Intercom / Paging extensions can now be set with a Call-Info Header, in addition to the Alert-Info Header, to allow for auto-answer on a Sangoma Wireless phone.

  • Switchvox now configures compatible D-Series telephones for 802.1X PC-port pass-through and EAPOL on disconnect

  • Switchvox no synchronizes missed call notifications across the desktop app and the Switchvox Chat mobile app - if the Call Log is viewed on either client, the other client will no longer alert the user that there are missed calls to be considered

  • Sangoma Phone Firmwares: 3.5.2, 2.9.17, 1.12.12.

Issues Resolved

  • The desktop softphone app can now be successfully used to chat across Peered Switchvoxes with self-signed certificates.

  • SFTP offloading for call recordings and backup files is corrected for particular SFTP servers that forbid the SFTP setstat operation, e.g. AWS

  • Resolved a user enumeration exposure when viewing /main webpage source code.
