Updating to Switchvox 6.6.0.1

This article describes the issues resolved in Switchvox version 6.6.0.1 (89593).

See also: Known Issues, 6.5.2, 6.6.0.2, 6.6.0.3.

This version requires version 6.3.6 (84996).

IMPORTANT

  • For a Switchvox updating from 6.3.6: if you have Digium Phones please read the article Updating to Switchvox 6.4.

  • For a Switchvox with Converged Phones: those will be modified in the update to 6.6.0.1, and the affected phone-users will see different behavior in Switchvox. Before updating, please review the important information contained in the article Converged Phones Replaced By Additional Phones in 6.6.

  • For a Switchvox with Peered Switchvoxes: after the update to 6.6.0.1 is complete, you must open each Peered Switchvox, click the icon Fetch Peer Certificate and then click Save Peered Switchvox.

  • API does not support the AUTH=DIGEST method as in previous versions. Please use or change your API to use AUTH=BASIC instead.

Features & Changes

Active Directory passwords can be used to log into the Switchvox phone-user suite, instead of storing login passwords in Switchvox. This way, you don’t have to store and manage passwords in two places. For details, see Switchvox with Active Directory and LDAP.

One person with multiple Digium Phones only requires one user license. Now, instead of converging two existing SIP Phone extensions, you create and manage Additional Phones on a person’s Main extension, and no extra User Licenses are required. An Additional Phone can be a desktop Digium Phone or a Switchvox Softphone (ONLY Digium phones can be Additional Phones). For details, see Converged Phones Replaced By Additional Phones in 6.6.

HTTPS and Proxy settings are expanded. Now you can enter an SSL Certificate from a 3rd party Certificate Authority, or your organization's own Certificate Authority. If you do not have an SSL Certificate, SSL is explicitly Managed by Switchvox. For details, see HTTPS and SSL Certificates.

Blocked IPs tool is moved to its own page, to allow write-access to be separate from write-access on Access Control Rules. The IP Blocking Options remain on the Access Control definitions, so the new Blocked IPs tool only shows the Blocked IPs list, the details of each block, and a button to Unblock. In the update to 6.6.0.1, each sub-admin is given the same permission level that it has for Access Control, for the new Blocked IPs item. So there's no effective change for the admin's experience, but now you can let them unblock IPs, without letting them manage access control.

Digium Phone firmware version 1.5.4 for the D80 and 2.3.6 for other models.

Issues Resolved

  • Calls answered by Additional Phones are successfully recorded per a scheduled recording when dialing directly or via a call queue.

  • Older Switchvox Dial for Chrome corrected for use with 6.5.1.1 or 6.5.2.
