Different Methods to Reset Extension Passwords

The following are ways to reset extension passwords:

  • Login as administrator and you can change any extension's password for a user. Go to Setup > Extensions > Manage, and click the modify icon (yellow pencil). The Profile page displays the password fields for the web GUI access and the voicemail (Numeric PIN) password. Set the Login Actions > Force change of password to YES, which will prompt the user to change the password upon login.

  • If the user needs to reset the voicemail password, he or she can access the voicemail system by dialing 899 from their phone, and the server will offer menu options that include changing the password for the extension (press 4). 

  • For Switchvox Version 6.4 and higher, to reset the web login password, enter http://ip_address/main then click on the Forgot Password'link located underneath the Sign In button on the login page. A password reset message is sent to the email address on the extension Profile. If a user has a problem clicking on the link in the email, try using a different browser.
